    Gunsmithing Lost Bolt

Re: Lost Bolt May have made some forward progress today. A fellow member of this forum has contacted me and my problem might be solved for about 60% of what Browning is charging. I got the repair quote today from Browning and have 20 days to respond. Thanks to all of you that offered helpful...

    Gunsmithing Lost Bolt

Re: Lost Bolt I appreciate you all taking the time to read and respond to my thread. It looks like the best option will be to pay Browning to replace and install the bolt. Thanks again.

    Gunsmithing Lost Bolt

Re: Lost Bolt This gun was given to me new by a friend two years ago. I'm not a hunter so the plan is to sell the firearm. If I have to pay for the new bolt and installation, I still think I could sell the rifle and come out on top.

    Gunsmithing Lost Bolt

Re: Lost Bolt If I decided to part the rifle, which parts are valuable? The barrel? Action? Trigger group? The search continues for the bolt. My family and I moved a couple of years back and since the government handled the move, I packed my firearms and ammo myself. Sometime during that...

    Gunsmithing Lost Bolt

Re: Lost Bolt I found this on gunbroker, do you think it'll work: "You are bidding on a Browning A bolt. We believe it fits a 300 Winchester mag or a 7mm Remington mag. 7 1/4". Used but in very good like new condition. Starting bid is $90"

    Gunsmithing Lost Bolt

Re: Lost Bolt If that's the best response you can offer Poke I'd prefer if you didn't respond to my threads in the future. I'm in a jam and hoping to find some alternative options, if any are available.

    Gunsmithing Lost Bolt

I lost the bolt to my Browning A Bolt .300 WSM rifle. I've contacted Browning and they're quoting me to replace and headspace the bolt at 397 dollars. Is there some way around this? Can I purchase a used A bolt and have it installed/headspaced for less? I'm looking for any other options here...

    Cheaper to build?

I've read a lot of good posts here about the 700, and I've narrowed it down to either that rifle or the Savage Model 10. One concern I have with the 700 is that the first thing a lot of guys do is replace the stock. Would it be cheaper to just buy a 700 action and barrel and install it on what...

    Fieldcraft Book recommendations

Re: Book recommendations The Encyclopedia of Country Living is an awesome book that I would recommend to everyone. Covers a range of topics and is well written. I also really like Patriots by John Rawles. It's a how to survive the end of the world book with some story line mixed it. In it he...

    Inexpensive training methods

Re: Inexpensive training methods Thanks for the post. I would love to get into a Service match some day. I think it would be a lot of fun and would enjoy the practice and training leading up to it.

    Inexpensive training methods

Re: Inexpensive training methods Thanks for responding. I've been watching a couple of Marlin 925s and have heard great things about that rifle.

    Inexpensive training methods

I'm working on getting a 700 and the plan is to slowly build it up as I can afford it. In the meantime, with the cost of .308 being high, do you all use backup weapons to train or are you always shooting your main rifle? Would it be a good idea to buy a .22 (or something more reasonable to...

Picking up Rem 700 SPS for first rifle

Re: Picking up Rem 700 SPS for first rifle I hear there's a 1000 yard range in VA, but I haven't found it yet. It would be awesome to try some longer shots (600+).

Picking up Rem 700 SPS for first rifle

Re: Picking up Rem 700 SPS for first rifle The plan is to use 150-175 if I can. I'm just getting started and learning so target shooting at various ranges (100-300) for now.
