Advice on my next step in a LR rifle

My personnel opinion is to start with a mcmillan action and put a lilja barrel on it in the desired contour and fluting most i have seen are 40-X to reduce the weight but i prefer the weight of 28" strait 1.25" bull. Find a good gunsmith in your area and talk to him about installing the barrel...

New to long distance shooting looking for build help.

the best thing that you can do to improve the accuracy of the ADL is to trash the factory stock for something like a HS precision or McMillan and get decent bottom metal which will keep ya at a reasonable price roughly 500-600 if ya cant afford to re-barrel at this time.

New to long distance shooting looking for build help.

I am in the final stages of a build that was darn near identical to what you have when i started. I started with a standard 700BDL 30-06 that was "minute of deer." The modifications if you want to call them that are as follows: I put a HART 28" heavy bull barrel with diamond fluting chambered...

    Rifle Scopes Bushnell or Vortex?

Ive got a Vortex Viper PST 6-24FFP with mrad radical and i love it. Id def say go with the Vortex if you can find one, great quality glass good durable design and ive got roughly 1500 rnds of 300WM out of it and has never lost zero. Also if anything ever does happen like dropping your rifle on...

    Rifle Scopes Vortex Viper PST

Re: Vortex Viper PST i bought my first FFP scope last year not knowing what to expect and have fallen in love with it, not for the ranging distances aspect of it but more for having a consistent mildot at all powers. FFP eliminates the need to be on a set power to effectively use the mildot...

Re: long range custom build DYNA you might also want to look into another source for ammo as well. TROP GUN SHOP does custom handloaded ammo built to your specs and does custom load development. the guy that does the loading is nat recognized and consults for barnes. he is a good guy and has...

    long range custom build

Re: long range custom build yeah the 300 is gonna be a multi purpose rig weighing about 16 lbs primarily for target/tactical but plan to use it for some long range hunting as well. i know the 6.5x284 is a great cartridge for long range but i like .30 cal and the 300WM aint gonna burn out the...

    long range custom build

Re: long range custom build ballistics are nearly identical with the WSM having just a little bit higher velocity, energy, efficiency, and my opinion a little less recoil. I have both cartridges and i like the 300WSM but ammo and brass is slightly more expensive and i have seen no noticeable...

    long range custom build

Re: long range custom build thanks great advice, ive been researching and planning the 300WM for about 8 months now and estimate it will be another 8-10 until it is finished. I plan on buying a McMillan action to build my next 3 off of but I wanted the 300WM on the 700 action as well because...

    long range custom build

Re: long range custom build i would have very much so preferred to build a .338 lapua or a 30-375 weatherby but the standard 700 LA receiver is too short to accommodate the cartridge. if this gun goes the way that i plan i will be buying a mcmillan action to build a 338 off of off of. i plan...
