First bolt gun, seeking opinions (updated)

Re: First bolt gun, seeking opinions Not sure why you assume from a few posts on the net that I'll be talking "wayyyyyy" more than I'll shoot, but it's impressive you can tell so much about someone just from that. So no opinion on one of those LA calibers, nothing from experience? Thanks...

For 3 gun shooting Pump or Semi Auto?

Re: For 3 gun shooting Pump or Semi Auto? Lots to chose from but I run a FN SLP Mk1 for shotgun (with a Nordic bolt handle as the only mod), a G19 for pistol (3.5 disconnector, fiber sights), and an 18" mid-gas AR (WOA barrel). The AR has an ACOG TA31F and JP 45 degree offset short-irons at...

First bolt gun, seeking opinions (updated)

Re: First bolt gun, seeking opinions Meaning based on it's intended purpose I'll probably not shoot it enough to notice the difference in the three? (other than maybe factory ammo costs). Maybe a good point, it's not like taking an AR to the range.

Best Piston AR for 3 gun???

Re: Best Piston AR for 3 gun??? Looks like the crew got to you before I could reply...glad to see you sticking with the DI for 3-gun, it's just much smoother to shoot quickly. I've shot a few and as I recall I've only seen one shooter using a piston, and he was a Sabre Defense factory guy...

First bolt gun, seeking opinions (updated)

Re: First bolt gun, seeking opinions Ok so after some research and emailing I've made progress and decided to rebarrel for a LA caliber. Working with Mike at UGSW on this now. Along with the new barrel, he's going to completely refinish the stock adding his UGSW DBM and pillars, then coat...

    Barrel for AR build

Re: Barrel for AR build I have this barrel (mid-gas) on my 3-gun rifle. It's a great shooter and very accurate, and I'm using 55gr most of the time.

    Anyone shooting WT 7.62x40?

Re: Anyone shooting WT 7.62x40? I have started looking at this caliber for a "non-standard" AR build I want to do sometime in the future. It's basically between this and the 6.8. Big positive to me is the ability to use the same brass as my standard 5.56 ARs.

Acceptable amount of wear in an upper?

Re: Acceptable amount of wear in an upper? I've never actually seen an upper receiver "wear out" per say. I'm also not understanding exactly where this groove is. Is it in the channel that the charging handle rides in? And at any rate if the barrel throat is toast then your armorer needs...
