    Switch barrel hybrid

Over the last dozen years I've tried to find a way that any short mag could outperform the plain vanilla 284 with a long barrel, and I have yet to discover those physics - 284 match chamber, 183gr+ offering, 27"+ barrel and 2800fps will be easy. Long action, standard boltface, and energy...

    Tikka M65A action rail q

Thank you for that; I'll hope it works. The 65A/ 658 lack of drilled receiver is curious, as both the 65 and 695 had drilled receivers. The trigger is a very unique element. A Two stage Tikka from long ago.

    Early Model S&B PM question

It appears it's either a knock off or maybe (but unlikely) .mil No serial number, no typical SB or COO markings, and where the character '4' is used on the turrets, it's a 'closed top' 4, as opposed to an 'open top' number four character. Looks pretty accurate otherwise...

    Early Model S&B PM question

Found what is claimed to be a well used Schmidt and Bender 3-12 x 50 scope. It looks pretty legit, but it lacks the SB roll stampings on the eyepiece beyond the 3-12 x 50 spec and + - for the paralax adjust, and no Schmidt and Bender stamping anywhere on the scope. Looks like an early PM2...

    Tikka M65A action rail q

Found a neat curiosity on my Tikka M65A while shopping for a proper scope & rings for it - The scope rail/ action rail on the 65A (yes the 65A) measures 15.7mm 'across', while the action rail on the M55/ M65 series are 16.3mm and finally the T3 is advertised as 17mm Does anyone out there...

Norma 130 gr. Golden Target Bullets

In 6.5x55 Skan using 48.5gr Stabal with the 130gr Diamond Line for Vavg of 2865 and Sdev 11, 24" barrel. Volume thrown charges. Accuracy is good. In the Creed try around 45gr to start maybe? Don't poke an eye out. The GB/NDL have a longer bearing surface than the Berger 130s, so they won't...

    Tikka T3X in .284 or 6.5-284 ?

284 Win using a short action AICS mag is just not a recipe for success. Go short mag (7wsm or saum or 7-270wsm) or long action magazine. I've built two straight 284 Win barrels for the T3 and they're great. Trajectories are identical to 338 Lapua on 3/5 the shoulder punishment. 21 +/- 0.5 mil...

200 Grain ELDx or 208 Grain ELDM 308 Winchester Load Questions

Not ELD series, but 208 Amax/ Match- I forget the charge weight, but Reloader 17 gets me to 2500fps with good accuracy, and that's really the upper limit when it comes to kinetic performance out of the cartridge. Needs a 24+" barrel for that speed. 10 twist is ideal. I don't nit pick brass...

    IMR 7828 SSC

Both cartridges will handle it well. I run it in a straight 284 win with 162 amax/bthp and they fly 2930 with good accuracy. I think I remember hearing it's not super temp stable, but I've run it for a 30 to 40 round afternoon and the groups hold up for me. Find a similar volume case/ bore...

What is your load development process? + Some noob questions.

Your velocity profile run-in method is a good idea. Pick where you sort of want to be for speed and then work around there for accuracy. Developing at 300yd is a good standard. Don't get too hung up about the velocity readouts when load developing. Depending on how you're shooting, recoil...
