That is not an original SVT sniper. Tula was the only one to produce SVT snipers in 1941 and 1942. Your rifle is a 1940 Izhevsk. And the mount is a well known fake called a Finn Bear mount. However, even the Finn bear mounts bring a decent amount of money. Still looks like a great shooter.
Thanks Random Guy. Knights won't tell you much. But they did confirm via email that this was one of their buy backs from the US Government in 2014. That's all the info I will have.
Very interesting thread. This is my bring back I bought that is confirmed from Knights. My guess is this was made around 1995 as a SR25 and later updated to Mk11 with a new barrel and hand guard. Any thoughts?
I have thought this also. Is there someone with the tools and skill set to make these again? Even better is if they made Gen 1s. Seems like there is a market for them.
I am also looking for a FA762SS can for my original XM3 I got from the CMP. I'd pay good money for a Gen 1 or Gen 2 if anyone has one. Can't use any other can I also emailed Surefire and got the same response about them no longer making them. Any other help would be awesome!
