Hi folks, Could anyone measure the distance from the end of the 16" rail tube to the muzzle on a ax338 with a 27" barrel?

Could someone from AI or MH tell me if it's possible to order the ax338 with a longer barrel than 27"? And would there be an additional cost?

Since i'm from Europe, AI's are deliverd with UK barrels. How does the LW or Border barrels compare with the US Bartlein? Would it be worth the additional cost for the Bartlein? And can you order the rifle with a longer barrel than 27"?

No i don't have a suppressor for it. I'm think'n the AAC QD is a good choice, but if the QD muzzle brake is less effective than the stock AI brake, i will opt for another suppressor.

How tight is the AI chambers?

I think redmanss got that right. You can get out to 1000meters with the 308, but basicly you're out of range for that cartridge.

I've seen 308's out to 1000meters, but those have long barrels and shot with good ammo. Imo after 600 meters there is far better options out there than 308. Here in scandinavia most people use the 6.5x55 which is much better!

Hi Lowlight, What's the barrel length of the AX308 pictured here? I'm thinkin of buying a AX338 and leaning towards a 13" forend as shown on the 308. Any disadvantages with the 13" aside from having less space to mount stuff? Reason i'm askin because i plan to mount a supressor that has...

Which barrel brand does AI use? If you can choose what make you want, what's regarded the best? I'm from scandinavia, so purchasing one would be from an EU dealer. Don't know if the ones sold i uk have different barrel brands?

Thanks alot for much good information! I think i'll go with the 338 lapua, the 308 really starts to suffer after 600meters or so. The 300wm is a quite good choice, but i think it will kill the barrel before the 338 LM

So basicly i have only the 300wm and 338 lapua to choose as a long range cartridge?

I'm a bit fond of the 6.5x55, so is it a possiblity to have that on the long action AXMC? Sorry, i'm a bit noob when it comes to the technical aspects of firearms:P
