WTF? Kestrel 4500, Win 10 BT connection

Hey all... Microsoft's Bluetooth stack is just awful and it works with some chipsets and then again doesn't for others. The best luck I've had is the old Kensington module (and I use it nearly daily). It comes with a well-written stack. I can't find the old Bluetooth-classic only module that...

Kestrel Zero Offset/Zero Height (potential) Issue

I implemented it such a negative means "less drop." From the bullet's perspective, there's less drop when the point of impact is up, therefore it's a negative number in the up direction. Sorry if it has led to some confusion. I tend to look at it from the bullet's perspective more often.

Try toggling from low to high settings on the Bluetooth page. Also, if you get stuck, don't be afraid to call Joe at NK for tech support. He has debugged this several times and gotten it working for people.

In order to add a new gun to your Kestrel via the profile loader, you need to download all of the guns to your PC, keep a "local copy" of them, transfer from the PC to the Kestrel's "local copy" and then upload as a series of guns. So, technically, there is an extra step of pulling the...

It's the serial port protocols over Bluetooth that require the Windows side of things versus the Mac. Otherwise, it's just sending bytes of data up to the Kestrel over a serial stream - nothing too special there.

Here's a quick tutorial I put together a while back. http://www.appliedballisticsllc.com/Software/ABLoader-VMware.pdf If you just do it on the Kestrel, the only thing you lose are the custom curves - which I really do recommend using if you can connect it.

The recommended approach is to use the DSF calibration for this. Calibrate your MV at some distance where you are dialing in some range in the supersonic - probably somewhere around 8-10 mils. Use the range that we recommend that is in the top right hand corner of that screen. Then, to reach...

Sounds like you are referring to one of the apps. Android or iPhone? If you're referring to the Kestrel, then Bryan posted a bunch of links to the YouTube videos that he did.

Yeah, if you send from a .mil address, that's sufficient. We don't need your DoD ID. I know that is against policy now. If you have questions - hit me up. [email protected]

When you're ready to get back to the technical discussions, give me a holler. I've gotta get back to making real products.

Yep - you are right on. And I am intimately familiar with AB's solver (obviously) and JBM as well. Based upon your knowledge and your web site, I imagine that you got it right too. At the end of the day - definitely buyer beware regarding how any ballistics app is applying truing corrections...

Range Report Which Published Berger BCs Are From Predictions Rather than Measurements?

Michael - please don't misconstrue what I'm saying. I'm not sure how you can say that I've cast doubt on some MPM solvers. In fact, a properly written MPM solver with a custom drag curve that also has spin, Coriolis, and aero-jump added into it is exactly what puts the rounds on target for...

Range Report Which Published Berger BCs Are From Predictions Rather than Measurements?

Any time man! No need to pay. We have the range, we have the gear. It's easy to deploy it. It's all wireless and only takes us a bit to deploy. We're in Ohio - kind of near the Akron / Canton area. So feel free to PM me or email me at [email protected] and come out some time.
