    300 win mag dilemma

I had a Savage 112 BVSS in 300 WM with a 26" barrel (I have since switched to a 30" barrel). The best load I found with Accubonds 200grs was 80.5 grs of H-1000(hot) and CCI 250. I got 2935 fps and it would hold 1/2 MOA (3 shots) to 600 yards. My OAL was 3.509" so I used that load single shot...

    Weighing brass--searching for accuracy.

Re: Weighing brass--searching for accuracy. Weighting cases on the assumption that there is a constant correlation between case weight and internal volume is a complete waste of time that is based on an erroneous assumption. Others factors such as dimension of base and extractor groove are...

    Rifle Scopes Near Manufacturing

Re: Near Manufacturing As others have stated, Richard is top notch. I have 3 of his bases and 2 alphamounts. His service response is impeccable. I also have bases and rings from Badger, Nightforce, Leupold Mark IV, Warne, Farrell and TPS. Bottom line, Near bases and rings are the best, bare none.

    PressureTrace Users- How to calibrate?

Re: PressureTrace Users- How to calibrate? I have a Pressure Trace and have not been too successful in getting it to work properly. I guess I'll have to do a chamber cast to get exact dimensions. Also the Bluetooth function stops working in freezing conditions, so I guess I'll have to wait...

    Die Set Recommendations Please

Re: Die Set Recommendations Please I've long stopped buying die sets because one or more of the dies are not top notch unless you buy the real expensive Comp. sets. Here's what I buy for best quality/price/precision: Lee Collet die Redding Body die Forster Ultra seater

    H1000 or Retumbo for .300WM?

Re: H1000 or Retumbo for .300WM? I running 80.5grs of H-1000, CCI 250 and Accubonds 200grs at 2935 fps out of my Savage 112 BVSS in 300 WM. The load is hot by Nosler manual standard but I have no signs of pressure so far. This load is good for an average of 0.5 MOA out to 500 yards. Here's...

Hand loading for Long range 1: brass case prep

Re: Hand loading for Long range 1: brass case prep Great thread. Here's my contribution. I use a different technique from those described here to set up my resizing dies using Larry Willis' "Digital Headspace Gauge". To set it up for a .002" bump on the shoulder I use the following...

    Quickload Velocity Data

Re: Quickload Velocity Data I always chrono my loads. Once you've entered all your custom data into QL, including average case volume in grs of H2O, it's surprisingly accurate. Once in a while, I have to ajust powder burning rate when using a new lot.

Is a Savage Worth the time to customize

Re: Is a Savage Worth the time to customize I modified my Savage 112BVSS 300 WM into a 338 Edge as follows: Savage 112 BVSS Custom pad Eagle Creek cheek rest SSS bolt knob SSS recoil lug Epoxy bedded - Devcon 12 MOA Near base Custom TPS rings Nightforce 3.5-15x50mm MLR, Zero-stop, FFP Shilen...

    Weighting brass?

Re: Weighting brass? In my opinion, weighting brass is a waste of time. I did a test with 235 cases (different calibers and brass headstamps) and found that the correlation between case weight and internal volume is very poor to non-existent. Base size, extraction groove dimensions, alloy...

Donuts vs. no donuts... Pressure Trace data

Re: Donuts vs. no donuts... Pressure Trace data Wouldn't turning the necks and then using a Lee collett die avoid most of these issues - at least until such time as enough brass flows into the neck from repeated firings to cause a problem.
