Winchester primers vs. CCI-200 primers as indicator of pressure in 308/7.62

You are right. It seems like when you think you have found an absolute truth something comes along to dispel it. I really appreciate all the advice I've received on this forum.

Winchester primers vs. CCI-200 primers as indicator of pressure in 308/7.62

I'd be interested to know if any other board members are using BL-C(2) with 150 gr or 168 gr bullets in their gas or bolt guns and what loads you have had success with.

Winchester primers vs. CCI-200 primers as indicator of pressure in 308/7.62

I didn't weigh the cases but I certainly will. I'm guessing where you are going with this is different case capacities causing differences in pressure. On the face of it I used all LC-13 once fired brass assuming that they would be pretty close in weight but I may be wrong.

Winchester primers vs. CCI-200 primers as indicator of pressure in 308/7.62

I really hadn't considered this; excellent thought.

Winchester primers vs. CCI-200 primers as indicator of pressure in 308/7.62

Is comment on 46 gr load looking a little hot based on velocity, primer appearance or personal experience? Just curious- trying to learn all I can from experienced gas gunners as I am fairly new to reloading for 308 gas gun.

Winchester primers vs. CCI-200 primers as indicator of pressure in 308/7.62

What is the reason? Are they in fact to soft?

Winchester primers vs. CCI-200 primers as indicator of pressure in 308/7.62

I've been trying to arrive at a good SHTF load that won't break the bank, are easy to load and supply reasonable accuracy and are within safe pressure limits. I have a boat load of Hornady 150 gr FMC bullet heads and LC-13 once fired brass. I've settled on BL-C(2) and Winchester LR primers. (I...

Trimming once fired brass for gas gun

If you are using once fired brass for your gas gun is there really any reason to trim it back to minimum length as opposed to just short of max length to save a little bit of trimming. I'm using the same brass over and over until I dispose it and trim between each loading for my gas gun. Out...

First time sizing of LC- LR once fired brass?

I've been using LC once fired brass to feed my AR-10 and out of a couple of orders of this once fired brass I've been able to cull out about 120 pcs. of once fired LC-LR brass. I've been SB sizing the regular LC brass followed by FL sizing after subsequent firings (seems to work OK in my gun)...

    Gunsmithing Heavy copper fouling solutions?

Never heard of this product before; found it on Brownells web site. Looks interesting but to good to be true. I'd be interested to hear how it works for you.

    Gunsmithing Heavy copper fouling solutions?

Not really; although the most rounds I usually put through it in a sitting is 25 or so. Maybe the copper fouling stabilizes after a point. I should try up to 50 rounds before de-coppering the barrel. I have 3 other 308s (a Win 70 /w Kreiger HB, a 700 with a Lilja HB and an FN SPR) that collect...

    Gunsmithing Heavy copper fouling solutions?

I've got a Rem 700 heavy barrel in 308 that I purchased new probably 15 to 18 years ago. I haven't fired it a lot over this time period (probably 300 to 400 middle of the road handloads; mostly topped with 168 gr SMKs). The gun is very accurate but has a pretty rough bore and picks up copper...

Tools to measure AR-10 chamber and 308 brass for custom sizing?

As opposed to just SB or FL sizing, how do you measure the chamber of an AR-10 and size your cases to a more precise dimension for more accuracy and greater longevity of brass? What specific tools do you use? Thanks.

    45.70 ?

Sorry, my mistake I was using 300 gr Sierra HP in this rifle (other load specs are the same). I have a second 1895 GS with a 1-4x Nikon that shoots the 300 gr Hornady, 56.1 gr IMR 3031, Starline brass, WLR almost as well.

    45.70 ?

I've got a Marlin 1895GS (JM proof marked 18" barrel) /w 1-4x Leupold. I've been loading 56.1 grs IMR 3031 with Hornady 300 gr HP in Starline cases /w WLR primers. Over my chronograph this load clocks at just over 1800 fps. Accuracy is great. It will group 3 shots in 1" at 100 yards all day...
