Watch Out for Scammers!
We've now added a color code for all accounts. Orange accounts are new members, Blue are full members, and Green are Supporters. If you get a message about a sale from an orange account, make sure you pay attention before sending any money!
Are you shooting with a suppressor? When I shoot suppressed my cases look just like that... a lot of fouling on the outside of the neck and the rest of the case is nice and clean. Even unsuppressed you'll still see some fouling on the outside of the necks, but your pics make me immediately think...
I've got a Burris clip on. I run my scope pretty low, so to get the thermal as low as possible I'm using a low-profile M-lok picatinny rail from Arisaka. I don't really like the tiny bearing surfaces of M-lok for anything that holds weight and has to deal with recoil, so instead of the standard...
Pro Tip: When working with the castle nut buy/use a wrench that engages more than just 1 of the slots. Lots of all-in-one AR armorers' wrenches only engage a single slot and it's real easy to slip and bugger up a single slot. There are wrenches just for doing castle nuts on ARs that engage...
I don't recall if the published weight of 6.5 pounds for the 308 version is dead on or not, but the factory barrel profile isn't super light. I wouldn't be surprised at all if you could recontour it and shave half a pound.
If you're interested in NRL-style .22 shooting there's a monthly match in Crittenden. It's the third Sunday of every month (minus a couple of months in the winter) http://www.nkssa.org/index.html
That's pretty much exactly where I am with mine. My "real" purpose for the rifle is hunting shots out to 400 or so. At my place I have steel out to about 800 that I shoot just for fun, and that's about as far as I shoot the Cross on a regular basis.
I'm using the NF NXS 2.5-10x42. I tried a few different "lighter" scopes I had lying around and eventually bit the bullet and bought the NF. I think it's the perfect match for the gun.
Re: the handguard alignment... I have a few rifles/handguards that attach similarly to the Cross (I have a Cross too) and that type of handguard is a pain in the ass to get dead-center. There's enough deflection available when the screws aren't tight that you can move the handguard quite a bit...
There's an enormous amount of information both on this site and all over the internet talking about .308 performance in shorter barrels. You quote some speeds later in your post... you can definitely push those projectiles faster with reasonable handloads. If you want more specific advice here...
Mine has a slight rattle in the folding mechanism, but as soon as I shoulder the gun any pressure makes that go away... it's not an issue in actual use. As far as accuracy, perhaps the OP got one with a problem. That's a bummer and hopefully Sig will take care of it quickly. As for general...
In the overhead shot are those rims bent or is that an optical illusion? They look seriously bent, which would mean it is extracting with significant pressure still in the chamber.
Because those rules are so laughably inadequate you could argue that sitting your ass on the ground counts as "standing" as long as both feet are touching the ground and you'd technically be OK by the letter of the rules. If the NRL wants to be a serious organization they need to put more effort...
I see your location is the PNW. I'm on the east coast now but I was in the PNW and shot matches there from about 2008-2015. Before the PRS/NRL/whatever showed up and people started thinking they were fancy because they bought a jersey with their name on it or they got a discount on a scope this...
The NRL rules are insufficient. By the strict letter of the rules you could just sit down with both feet on the ground and it meets the requirements for "standing unsupported" as written. Obviously that's not right, and I'm going to assume it's not intended. The rules need to be fixed. In the...
