I took a doe with my AAC Micro 7 shooting a Barnes 110 TAC-TX. It was a 75 yard shot. She was head down and I hit her at the base of the skull. The round exited the neck with good expansion and a nice exit wound. It almost completely severed the right rear foot as well. A nice clean kill with no...
I enjoyed the movie, it is a thinking film and goes against the grain. There are no winners, only hardship. I often refer back to that movie when I think about SHTF / prepping. I really need to get a copy of the book.
Leupold VX-3 3.5-10 x 40 w/ CDS 1/4 MOA knob on a 30.06. I've used it to shoot deer & pigs out to 250 yards, mostly from a stand or ground blind. If I know I'm shooting past that I typically go to a different rifle.
I have a Remington M 700 5R, cut down to 22", threaded w/ TBAC Brake installed, FDE cerakote, Timney trigger installed (all done by Hill Country Rifles) that is still in the original HS Precision stock. I like the stock but would like to go to a detachable mag system and maybe something with...
My main carry is a Springfield TRP in a Comp-Tac Minotaur MTAC. For days when I don't want to carry that much gun, I've got a really cool S&W 640 no-dash 38 marked "Tested For +P+" that I carry in a Remora.
I'd say it is an excellent choice for a hunting rifle. An alternative could be the VX-3 3.5-10 CDS which gives you external .25 MOA clicks (I've got one on my 30.06). I'm thinking of building a lighter weight hunting setup and looking at the VX-R 2-7 or VX-3 2.5-8.
I've got a Leupold VX3 3.5-10 CDS on a hunting rifle in 30.06 and really like it. It is well suited for a normal distance hunting rifle and I've shot out to 400 yards at steel with it. I'm considering a lightweight 308 hunting build and looking at the VX3 2.5-8 or the VXR 2-7.
The TAB sling is great and highly recommended. The TAB matis tiny. I carry it in my pack for LR shooting where I'm going to be hiking. For the range, I use a much cheaper and or comfortable Midway mat.
I used an SWFA 10x for a year or so. It is a great scope for the money. One thing to consider is scope diameter. I wanted a 30mm scope so that when I upgraded glass I didn't have to upgrade rings as well.
