For what it's worth I have plenty of clearance for the bolt handle. The only issue was running a throw lever on the magnification ring, I had to make sure it was biased towards the left side of the gun so it stays out of the way.
I have a CZ455 Varmint in the wood CZ stock with the 30 MOA Area 419 rail and an Athlon Ares BTR 4.5-27x50. Using the lowest rings I could find (Vortex Hunter lows) the cheek weld is perfect with no riser. Disclaimer - I have a big fat Korean head so your mileage may vary. It takes me about 11...
I think people have tested individual examples of much more expensive premium scopes to have 2-4% tracking error, including S&Bs. If you don't think it's worth your time to stick with Athlon then go with another brand you trust but you never know when you'll get a lemon and I wouldn't write off...
Nah it's not trying to flip over on me. I think either the side or the front would work fine. The barrel rides high enough and the channel has so much room that I don't think there's even a remote chance of barrel contact if you put a flush cup in the side
Came in yesterday. Got my bottom bolt release Precision Carbine bolted in and it fit perfectly. The PMAG needed a little futzing with the feed lips to fit in the Savage action but it feeds fine. A 300mm generic Arca rail fit the fore end exactly.. I just cut a little notch in it where it bends...
Will this work with the new Savage 110 Prairie Hunter in 224 Valk and are there any plans to offer mags in 6.8SPC/224 valkyrie? Getting one for my 308 Precision Carbine regardless but I'd get a Prairie Hunter if I could find a chassis option
Re: 1/10 MOA mid-range MIL-dot scope shopping From the shopping around I did it came down to the Weaver or the Viper PST, however the wait for FFP PSTs was a little too much for me so I got the Weaver. I prefer the reticle in the Vortex but the Weaver does have mil-donuts with half-mil hash...

Re: show some pics of your rimfire sticks!! Picked up this 10/22 International last week for an Appleseed gun. Dropped in a Volquartsen hammer and bolt release and will probably leave it like this.
Re: Researching to buy a GsG-5, need some first hand I have a pre-lawsuit GSG-5. It's about as accurate as a stock 10/22. A lot of fun, but you cannot run it dirty. I field-strip, clean and lightly lube after every range trip. The last round bolt hold open and mag safety can get stuck if you...
Re: Anyone load for Saiga 308? Bullet? Charge? I got lucky in that my S308 seems to like the dirt cheap Tula ammo. It hovers around 2 MOA with that stuff, which is much better than the results I got with American Eagle and Remington Powerpoints. It might be worth a try, at $6 a box you're...
