USMC Unertl locking in the parallax on the objective

Your description makes me think that something could be assembled wrong. I don't know how that would be possible though. The best thing to do would be to compare it to another Unertl and see what is going on. Some pictures might help.

Remington RACS top rail screws too short? Will it be an issue?

The screws on my XM2010 rail to receiver have a thread length of 3/8 inch: #8-40x3/8 T-15.

    M40 stocks are these original

I own the rifle in the last picture. I would recognize that picture anywhere! The stock was a "Dep Taylor" stock which was finished and set up with correct sling swivels and butt plate.

It's been fun, but it's time for me to move on

Ryan: About 25+ years ago I bought a pistol from an older collector who was selling off his collection. He shared his perspective on collecting and later selling off his collection. He said that as he built up his collection, he got to enjoy the search for items and learning the history and...

    DST coming today

That was one of the original reasons for DST, so dairy farmers could have daylight to do the morning milking. Also so farm kids could do their morning chores before they go to school.

New McMillan HTG M40A1 smear stocks!!!

Thanks, guys. If it were a return stock it would be a no-brainer, I would just say it looks good and move on. That's the challenge with these return scopes and other parts; they are all unique and never match perfectly. Still, I never want to remove paint or mess with them. I didn't even want...

New McMillan HTG M40A1 smear stocks!!!

I'm having second thoughts about my smear stock. I picked up 006 last year with plans to upgrade my M40A1. I thought the smear would look better with the camo paint on my issued Unertl. Now that I have tried the stock on the rifle, I'm not sure it would be an upgrade over the forest camo...

    Army M24 Build Thread

Mach1pilot: Check this out. It looks like our XM2010 rifles stayed together through their entire service life! The following Information was found in the Department of Defense (DoD) Small Arms/Light Weapons Registry for a Sniper Rifle, NSN: 1005-01-588-2913, Serial Number: RR88033B. The...

    Army M24 Build Thread

I think that's about right. I have an RR prefix from that time period. Overall (not specifically on M24's), the RR prefix receivers began to be used in the latter part of 2012.

    Army M24 Build Thread

Thanks for the comments. I would submit it again; they always respond even if they find no results. Earlier this year they requested that people use the form in the link to submit FOIA requests. It's not required, but it has worked well for those using it...

    Army M24 Build Thread

Have you run an Army FOIA request on your receiver serial number? All of the US marked M24 serial numbers that I have run have come back with good information. I think that would be the best and quickest way to confirm. I don't remember the CMP selling or auctioning any M24 rifles or receivers...

C prefix M24 receivers were U.S. marked, as well as a few E prefix receivers. After that the use of US markings was ended. Later M24 receivers including G prefix and RR prefix were not U.S. marked.

Update 12/12/24: Good news! A few hours ago I got an email reply from the owner of Bryant Ridge Co. thanking me for the heads up. He had already been in contact with Gunbroker asking them to take the auctions down. These receivers were consigned. He asked me for some further specifics so he can...
