    Well, I’ve recived the responses I expected. My thought was to use a light-barreled Vudoo action to build a custom sporter. The magazine as currently issued, for all its merits, would not be very visually pleasing. Probably I’ll come up with an alternative build idea at some point. Jack

    no, actually you don’t need a lathe to make a lathe. Somewhere in my horde of books is a small book giving instructions on how to biuld a small lathe. The principles would apply to a larger one. There are also books on the first machine tool builders which give info. Those guys were really smart.

    I have seen photos of that 40x sporter too. Don’t know what it would cost to make a similar one using the Vudoo action, assuming a suitable clip, but it would be money well spent and would fulfill my lifelong dream of a perfect .22 sporter.
