Rifle Scopes Ruger M77 MkII ring problem

Re: Ruger M77 MkII ring problem It's an ok gun. That's a good idea, but I am trying to stay cheap for now. I ended up trying a few sets of Ruger rings until I found one that was tight enough for my too-narrow rear base, and it seems secure now. It might not be though, hard to tell ... I...

Rifle Scopes whats it worth? Leupold LPS 1.5-6x42mm

Re: whats it worth? Leupold LPS 1.5-6x42mm Based on my experience trying to sell a 4.5-14x Leupold Vari-X III at a gun show recently, I'd say 60% of what you paid. The new VX-III cost very close to same as what I paid 10 years ago, and I had 6 people offer me 60% +/- $25.

Rifle Scopes Ruger M77 MkII ring problem

The rear integral base for my Ruger M77 MkII is too narrow for some rings to be able to tighten on it. Rings that can't tighten on the rear work fine on the front integral base. The difference in width of the integrals bases is big enough for the eye to detect (after buying it of course). Any...

    One man's opinion of Varget

In summary ... it sucks. Short story ... I've gotten weird results with it that I've determined are due to Varget's ability to absorb water from the air, which is apparently tremendous. Long story ... I bought a 22-250 in CO, and began making handloads immediately, using Varget since it's...

    Hunting & Fishing Stuck-up guide

Re: Stuck-up guide Thanks everyone for the recommendations/etc. I will definitely cheack them out, and follow-up and post info/a pic after I go, although it will be awhile (next year, 2012). It shouldn't be too tough to find someone cheaper, and more in need of business!

    Hunting & Fishing Stuck-up guide

So, I contact this dude in Alaska about going on a guided hunt up there in 2012 (for my 50th), and he's cooperative/friendly until he finds out I'm not rich ... I say it'd be a one-time thing for me, and he told me not to come! Ever heard of someone not being willing to take 18k from you...

    Varget degradation with age/humidity

Re: Varget degradation with age/humidity I have a Shooting Chrony. It seems to be right on the money for the other guns I've used it with. I agree completely on the rest ... sounds like I need some silica gel desiccant packets to put inside the cans. Now to figure out where to get that...

    Varget degradation with age/humidity

Re: Varget degradation with age/humidity Thanks for all of the advice/thoughts gentlemen. I store the powder in my gun safe, which has a dehumidifier, in a ziploc baggie. I think the lower altitude will certainly affect it in the air, but I don't know about the muzzle velocity ... seems...

    Varget degradation with age/humidity

My first few sets of test loads from my then-new 22-250 produced speeds 150 fps higher than my Hornady book predicted. They were made in ultra-dry Colorado. 4 years later test loads came out right at what the book said, but they were made in humid Texas. 3 years after that, test loads came...
