OK so I have a new marlin 917 vrx I am setting up. I've done the Boyd's tacticool stock conversion. My optic is the Burris Mtac 4.5-14x42. I installed the DIP 25 MOA rail and Burris xtr lows. So here is my issue. I need another 1/2-3/4" for eye relief in the scope to be comfy on the gun...

mine is perfectly 100% visible in bright daylight. i have the mrad version on my 16" gasser. cant see how yours is any different unless you do not have it cranked up.

just got a brand new burris mtac 4.5-14x42 mil/mil on closeout for $245 for my rimfire. Save another $100 or so. you will get a much more useful scope. is the mtac the best? no. but for the price i paid that is one hell of a scope for the rimfire. and the reticle is similiar to my higher...
i ended up with the burris xtr lows. midway has a code for first time customers and free shipping making them a decent price. should work perfectly fine on my .17 hmr.
