To be used with 1-6 day scope, mostly in the 4x to 6x range, but might use higher power scopes later. Have put a T60 in front of it, and that seems to work fine, but want to make sure I'm not missing some other alternatives. Thanks!
CTS-V is a monster for straight line, and it will handle decently in the twisties. Not as good as a 6 series, but those don't have the straight line (even the M6) that the CTS-V has. Back seat in both 6 and CTS-V is just barely enough for kids up to around 9 or 10. Small adults can squeeze...
Re: Savage Vs Remington 308 I'd go by trigger if you're leaving everything stock. Both are great guns, but be sure to break them in with 100-200 rds of regular velocity ammo before going with subsonics. I had a squib in my 10FCP almost right out of the box.
Re: Rifle and caliber suggestions I'd recommend a 5R or a Tikka T3. Try to get behind a couple if you can; sometimes that can be done at a training class where there are several rifles and you can compare their feel side by side. You mention long range target shooting; a quality scope...
Re: muzzle brake I've used several. For a .308, I'd use a Little Bastard from APA. VAIS brakes are also good. I saw a youtube video that APA did with their Fat Bastard on a .338. Funny as hell!
