If I'm buying a barrel... it will be a Benchmark. If someone out there wants me to test drive something else I'll think about it.... and get back to you on that.

Rifle Scopes Calculating Correct Mil Value In a Second Focal Plane Scope

Another option - have scope set to mil 1-1 magnification when "milling" a target. Use whatever power setting you wish when using rangefinder. I started with a sfp scope and it was extra math to do anything but leave it on the specific power setting for which the mils were correct.

So is THIS what yall ment by Remington quality now days? HELP

As was already stated Remington thinks 4" @ 100 yds is acceptable accuracy even with a Sendero. Just joking here - I'll give you $150 for the rifle just to take it off your hands so you don't have to deal with the headache of it any more.

    7mm-08 long action question.

I have not had any issues with running a short action cartridge thru a long action rifle. I use a savage 110 long action for all my switch barrel hunting stuff. 22-250 ackley / 243 / 30-06 ackley / 308 - I got all the barrels and just swap them and no feeding issues.

    243/short barrel/heavier bullets

H4350 or a faster powder will get good speeds in the 20" barrel with the 75 - 100gr range depending on twist rate and speed you might get the 105 amax to stabilize. I have gotten them to stabilize in some 1-10" twist barrels when other 105 hpbts would not.

Rifle Scopes Vortex Viper 10x42 HD's - Are they Really That Good?

The warranty on vortex is awesome - especially if you are as hard on equipment as I am. Good glass does have weight to it - I use a harness rather than having my neck carry the load.

    Which upgrade first??

Someone asked about my statement, "they have a habit of dying." I have had several xmarks which would a.)not adjust to my satisfaction b.) no longer hold enough tension to keep bolt cocked c.) not reset after the bolt was opened. Basically all are the same basic problem - trigger not...

    Which upgrade first??

i've adjusted a couple of xmarks. They have a habit of dying. I'd replace trigger first, scope second. Range time is good also. Just my 2 cents for the night, go have fun.

Hunting & Fishing Do I really need a .300 Win Mag or will .30-06 be fine?

I started hunting with a standard 30-06 went to college and figured I needed more gun. I was in the market for a .300 win mag and found a used .300 weatherby at a righteous price. I've killed elk, deer, and antelope with both. I shot the barrel out of the both the 300 weatherby and the 30-06...

Rifle Scopes Cheap rifle scope on nice gun?

I have a Bushnell 1500 elite range finder $400, and my scope wears a $1300 price tag. You can hit what you can't see. If you can't accurately dial or hold over your choice you can't hit. If you scope has good glass you can always mil the target and get your range.

    mil dot master.

Part of milling a target is being able to get the mil read down to the hundredth of a mil. As was already stated the difference between .2 and .29 is the difference between a hit and a miss. Like a tape measure and saw - measure twice and cut once..... mil twice if possible and hit with first...
