Thank you very much Niles, that is very helpful. I was scared the MV spread was due to my procedure. I assume when you say "I ran the numbers" in the above quote that you mean through "quick loads"? That's a luxury I don't have yet...
Thanks again
I've done a lot of research and lots of shooting to develop a load for 2 308's and a 223 (all bolt guns). My goal is distance - 800+ yds for 308's and 600 + for 223. Shooting 168gr SMK's and 53gr and 69gr in 223. I'm an experienced shooter, new to reloading and work in LE.
My first question...
That Whiskey is sweet looking chassis. Since I am trying to build two guns (well 3 now, just got a bolt .223 gun the other day) simultaneously it wasn't an option. Figured the .223 would be easier to find ammo (and cheaper) and hone my skill with it. Good luck..

It seem to be very dependent on ammo but with good 168gr HPBT it does very well... According the the target section of the "Ballistics AE" app it is shooting .48 MOA or .5". This was at 100 yards shooting from bags. I am going to try and attach a picture but it could go horribly wrong!!
Hello all, been lurking for some time, signed up today.. I have been shooting a long time but just now getting into large caliber (>5.56) bought 2 .308's and love it. Made some sturdy steel targets with round 18" 3/8's steel plates and made my first 600 yard shot this past weekend. It felt...
New here too, been lurking too... Also starting with same gun similar set-up, how about that. Same remington 700 AAC-SD (except mine is 16.5 I think, has threaded barrel). Also jumped in with a Vortex Viper 6x24 but in MOA, not sure why now that I have done more research. Also got a Savage FCPK...
