Check out orvis and filson. They have have fly fishing single strap style bags that allows one to slide the bag around without taking it off to access the bag. The single strap across the chest will also allow your vest to be used more if you desire.

I’m running a pair of 12x as well. I’m mainly using them for hunting and have been a huge fan so far. They are amazing on a tripod and there is still plenty of light gathering.

Look at the California fish and game website. They’ll have regs you can read about season dates, cost, etc. once you understand the regs and units look at a map and find some public land where you can rifle hunt.
