OP hadn't specified purpose of rifle. Not all custom rifles are precision bolt gun. If you are making a shtf scout gun/jacknof all trades type rifle, ball ammo might be on the menu. Gas guns are another area where chambering go+.002 is probably a good idea....
Well if it is a .308 win and you want to be able to chamber third world 7.62x51 ball ammo I would say that it is a bad plan, otherwise Rubicon is 100% correct
The same shooters sometimes shoot the National Tropfy Infantry Team Match (NTIT) aka "rattle battle match". Most teams shoot a 30 to 40 round cadence in 50 seconds. A rifle purpose built for this match and used only in this match or practice for it has a lifespan of about half of a across the...
@Kisssofdeath I have had to heat shrink parts together before, including some barrelwork. It does work- IF the Delta T is large enough to get the appropriate change in dimensions and the parts are appropriately sized to begin with. To know if you can heat shrink a fittment you need decent...
A W3 T3 chassis is far from plug and play. Look up my modified KRG bravo posts from last november (before KRG made a T1 stock) in the big T1 thread. It is more than a dremel can do to modify a KRG backbone/triggergaurd. A MPA type chassis could be dremeled at the possible expense of aesthetics...
Search for my posts in the T1x thread. I built one on a tac chassis December of last year. LONG Answer- You will have to mill or dremel out part of the "diaphragm between trigger pocket and mag well, no big deal. The bigger issue is modifying scope rail to work. The scope screw spacing is...
My son expressed some intrest in shooting some positional 22 matches with me so I decided to take the norinco jw-15 I had bought as a beater kid gun into something better. For those that don't know jw-15's are a copy of a Brno #2 and use the same...
Most useful operation for a Lathe on making a AR lower is to attach a 0% to a piece of square stock in a 4 Jaw chuck to bore and single point thread the buffer tube threads. An 80% could be made with a palmgren style milling crosslide vise but the Pain in the Ass factor is high and the setups...
@Thorsthighs There are so many good holster makers today, nobody imo needs to buy boxs of holsters to get what they want anymore. If I am wanting leather and the selection is pedestrian as far as what I am wanting to holster- WINTHROP makes decent cheap iwb and owb rigs. Boning isnt great...
Imo, using a commercial "router jig" with a mill is counterproductive. You do not need it. It is a lot like new shooters wanting to go to a 25lb, light recoil, light trigger prs rifle- it does not allow/require you to learn the fundamentals and build you abilities. Buying more mill specific...
