Recommend the most American made 30-06 for an elk hunt

Excellent thread. I have a 1954 era Winchester M70 in 30-06 with a Canjar single set trigger. I upgraded the 4x scope to a Nightforce NXS 2.5-10x32. Going to do some load development with 168 gr TTSX as soon as I get my bench back together. Have a Wyoming hunt booked in 2025…

    Any .308 Elk/Deer rifle recommendations?

First answer Is Tikka for all the previously cited reasons. But I will also put a plug in for the Steyr Scout. Your stated use conditions are what it was designed to excel at. No one will be posting groups with their SS, because it’s probably a 1 to 1.5 moa rifle. But the handling...

    Winter Shooting Gear

Check out Forloh gear. Made in MT. Excellent customer service. I wore the AllClima rain jacket / hard shell through much of what hlee described this past fall. It held up well, was quiet and light.

Anyone Making Money on a Small Acreage Parcel?

Watch Clarkson’s Farm on Amazon Prime. Jeremy Clarkson, of Top Gear, thought he could do it during a Covid lockdowns and did a show on it. Quickly found out he didn’t have a clue. Well done show; humorous and very respectful of rural life.

How good is the Vortex Fury 5000 AB?

I have the Vortex Fury 5000AB model. I got to compare it (on the side of a mountain) with one of the newer SIG laser / ballistic binos...don't remember the exact model number and some older Swaros range finding only binoculars. We (the SIG's owner) both agreed that the glass on the Vortex was...

    22i versus 34 etc for hunting ?

I think it depends on what kind of hunting you are talking about. For Eastern style deer hunting or predator hunting the 22i was my choice. But for mountain hunting or horseback hunting it wouldn’t be good at all.

    New 6mm Advanced Rifle Cartridge

Well I started with the AGB fully closed off. I also was using a brass catcher, so I didn’t really tune it to eject at a particular “time”. I was shooting suppressed. First shot bolt didn’t move. Turned it open 3-4 clicks. Again didn’t move. Another 3-4 clicks and it was ejecting...

    New 6mm Advanced Rifle Cartridge

Just put 20 rounds of Hornady ELDM through a Proof 20” CF to zero, break in, and tune AGB. Used E-Lander mag. So far so good; 100% reliable and very promising accuracy.

And further question regarding identifying coyotes…. Would you rather head mount a Nox 18 or 35?

Red Dot on CCW Pistol. Do you guys use them?

I came to Frank’s place to learn about the art and science of precision rifle shooting. If some of the “information” in this thread is any indication, I’m going to have to radically increase my BS filter in those threads…. I know, I know, it’s the interwebs (a great place for those with no...

Red Dot on CCW Pistol. Do you guys use them?

If you are willing to put the work into refining your presentation and can realize or even need the performance enhancement; then yes, MRDS equipped pistols can provide advantages. Shooters with advancing age who have vision problems and maintaining threat focus, as 308 mentioned, are two big...
