Any good use for 304 stainless?

If a magnet sticks to it fairly hard, it's 400 series SS, if the magnet does not stick, or barely sticks - 300 series SS. Post it in the PX, that's good stuff for turning or welding projects. I just had 4 discs plasma cut for $40, not including material cost ($2.00/lb.); these would have been...

    First can

I knew someone would be along shortly, LOL! Thank you, I thought about searching for it, too. That was years ago and (my understanding) was isolated to a specific time frame / batch, or possibly extenuating circumstances; I don't recall the exact details of the (in person) conversation. Also...

    First can

SAS makes good stuff. Have extensively used an older model Arbiter Ti and the stainless 308 model (heavy but quiet). Both are 9" cans. If money is no object, buy 2 or 3 different brands that will suit your needs and report back with a review of your new toys.

    AR10 .243 sub-300 yd bullet rec

Pretty much anything 6mm would work. What are your plans for it away from the range? If you have a .243 already, then you should try your existing bullets to see how they perform. 70gr. - 87gr weight range is awesome for coyotes as well as accuracy on paper. 105’s are great too. Good luck...

Any Local Ghost Stories worth sharing?

So, back in the 1940's or 50's, there was a young girl abducted in our area on her way to or from school. Some said a band of Gypsies were in the area during this time and blamed them. Fast forward a bit, my grandpa buys our family farm in the mid 60's. Across the road lived a strange, old...

Gunsmithing Savage bolt hard to close on round

You could also reset your headspace a couple thousands, see how your gages fit, and then see if the ammo chambers easily. Also, did you try a few rounds from that box of ammo, or just the one? How tight is it really? Hard close, or slight friction?

Expert large frame troubleshooters needed for diagnosis

Update: Gas port was previously enlarged from .072 up to .092 diameter a few years ago. Did some digging and found a couple adjustable gas blocks (AGB) - JP, Odin Works, and an unknown with an adjustable lever type arrangement which I chose due to the handguard design. Threw some 308 loads...
