    Suppressors New to Suppressors

I just acquired my first suppressor, a Thunderbeast Ultra 9, a Christmas gift from by children (Yes, I know I have great kids!). I will be using it on a long range precision rifle and an AR. I'm new to this and not very knowledgeable. Where can you point me for basic information to me started...

    Powder for heavy 30-06

Hands down 4000MR. I've used it with Hornady 200 gr. ELD-X with excellent results, producing .5 MOA and 2781 FPS out of a 26" barrel. My rifle did not shoot 210 Bergers well with this powder, for those I had good results with H4350 but with velocities in the mid-2500s.

    30-06 Long Range Loads

THanks for the link, I scanned it and it looks helpful. Since I originally posted this I had decided to try the Hornady 208 A-Max and the Berger 210 VLD Hunting bullet. As soon as my stock gets in we can complete the rifle and try them out.

Remington 700 LA magazine length: 30-06 build

I am planning a 30-06 build using a PT&G Serengeti reamer, print no. 9685 with .070" longer freebore for handling 208/210 gr. bullets. Is the standard long action magazine long enough to handle these longer rounds or will I need to do something different?

    Muzzle Brake vs. Linear Compensator

I am planning a 3006 build and wondering which would be best. How well does the linear compensator reduce recoil? I know it reduces noise for the shooter and those around him but how does it handle recoil? This will be primarily a hunting rifle so all things considered what are your thoughts...

    Which twist rate?

Re: Which twist rate? XTR Thank you for the explanation! You raise another question for me. I do not plan on shooting any light bullets out of this rifle. It will be strictly 190-210 gr. So, how do I need to throat this rifle?

    Which twist rate?

I am planning a 30-06 build in which I want to use either 190, 200 or 208 grain bullets. I read Salazar's article on it in which he recommends a 1:11 twist rate for up to 210 grain bullets. Then in the section on chambering he writes, "If your preference is for heavier bullets like the 210 gr...

    30-06 Long Range Loads

Re: 30-06 Long Range Loads That's good to know, it sounds like maybe it all comes down to shot placement, but we already knew that. Perhaps the AMAX is the answer, since it costs less I can afford to practice more and if I practice more my shot placement gets better.

    30-06 Long Range Loads

Re: 30-06 Long Range Loads I hadn't considered the AMAX because its a match bullet but what you say makes sense. What kind of reports do you hear regarding performance on heavy game like elk? How is the penetration? Weight retention?
