Building my first M40 for the Vintage Sniper matches.

The build is coming along nicely. I got the new bolt in from PTG and it fits great! Looks like primary extraction is dead on. I may just true up the receiver face and build this as-is and test it with the factory barrel I have just to see how it shoots. Later on down the line when I get my...

    REMINGTON 700 PROBLEMS

He has primary extraction issues and doesn't have a competent gunsmith in Argentina that can fix it. I recommend finding a welder that can do it this way:

Well, the project is coming along faster than I expected. I managed to get in on the group by for a Bartlein barrel. I PM'd Frank and he got me in. I paid $400 for the barrel which included shipping. The barrel will be ready around July. I sold off a M14 scope mount and bought a new Remington...

School me on triggers for the M40

Thanks! How about a Timney or Jewell, single stage? Tunable?

School me on triggers for the M40

Please school me on triggers and why I should prefer one over the other for this rifle. What would you use for your Vintage Sniper rifle?

Well, it turns out that there is a coinciding "1" stamped on the stock, and the buttplate was parkerized after fitting. So the buttplate is original to the stock. Fits nicely too. Tony.

Okay, Okay, I won't add pillars! This is one of those cases where I really didn't know what I have. Here are the markings on the buttplate. What's the significance of the additional markings? I'll be happy to build your rifles when the barrels are done. Tony.

This is a virgin Remington 700 RR prefix stripped receiver. It has no wear marks at all and has never had a bolt installed. I pulled the barrel off this receiver for the previous owner 2 years ago. The barrel is new and un-fired. I just hand screwed it on for the picture. This will be for...

A friendly accuracy challenge. Beat the match conditioned M14's/M1A's! (Piston-driven rifles)

I shot a vintage sniper match this weekend at Port Malabar. Here are the results. Distances were 300 and 600 yards. The LRB M14 with the Lothar Walther ICR barrel performed superbly! This is a no-lug rifle bedded into a composite stock with a heavy Lothar Walther ICR barrel. We shot prone...

Nice shooting! Are these piston-driven AR's? (M110's come in DI and Piston, don't they?)

A friendly accuracy challenge. Beat the match conditioned M14's/M1A's! (Piston-driven rifles)

Although not necessarily within the challenge of shooting 25 rounds, here are 20 rounds at 600 yards I shot yesterday at a vintage sniper match with my M14 using a Lothar Walther ICR barrel. The receiver is a LRB and the scope is a 3-9x40 Trijicon Huron scope. The rifle... The cheek riser was...
