Day off from work today so we decided to visit Acme for some pistol and carbine practice at steel plates (Buy W-W Targets). We noticed a full size box spring mattress dumped about 40 feet from the 750 firing spot. That was the only trash we saw after exploring the usual shooting locations...

Thursday practice at Machias was excellent. 3 relays 22 shots each at 500 yards with no wind. Tried 24 grains of N140 over 80 SMK jumping 15 thousands with no pressure. 597 with about 30X. Two of nines were not called. Will move the bullet closer next time to see if it tightens up a little...

fyi, This Thursday starting at 3pm Machias is holding a 500 yard prone practice. $10. I always shoot any/any sling but if any of you bipod shooters come out I would be interested in observing your technique for eliminating bipod hop and keeping the scope on target through the shooting process...

I concur w/JGorski. My palma barreled Rem 700 piled up a huge x-count at 500 yards using 44 grains RE15 and 168 SMKs. Shot better than my Varget loads...

I recently purchased some N140, as Varget/RE15 is in short supply. Using 24.0 grains for my 600 yard load. CLE 20" upper, 80SMK, Wolf primer, Nosler select brass. No pressure signs, burns clean, and prints just as accurate as the Varget and RE15. Expensive stuff. Plan on switching back to...
