When it is all installed it is loose, you can shake the rifle and hear it rattling around in there.

I wonder if the magazine is spung out a little bit. I will try to squeeze the magazine well in some to see if it will take up some of the slack and hold that piece in place a little better.

Ok, I put the thing in like the picture above. But is it supposed to be loose?? Just kind of flops around in there with it all closed up.

I tried it like that but it seemed like too tight of a fit, I will try again.

JCH, how does it fit in there?? Can you think of a place online that might have a picture of how it is supposed to be inside the magwell?

Gene, Thank you for the picture but it still dosen't show the piece I am talking about. In that picture you can see the space between the front of the magwell and the front screw, the shape of that space is about the size of the piece I am talking about, I know that it dosen't go into that...

I went on Remington's website, pull up the schematic's for the 700, so far I am not seeing the piece on any of the pictrues they are shoowing. Its measurements are 13/16" x 1 1/8" x 7/16" It is made from a stamped piece of steel, hoolow in the middle.

I am trying to help a friend with his Rem700 223 SPS. He took the action out of the stock to give the rifle a good cleaning and a piece fell out. I have never owned a 223 bolt gun so I have never seen this piece before. It is a small rectangular metal piece, seems to fit in the magwell...

Just got off the phone with the owner, he seems to think this piece fell out from between the magwell metal and the trigger. But for the life of me I can't see how it would fit in there. For some reason I still think it fits somewhere in the magwell.

That might be it, how is it supposed to lay in there??

Never mind, I fixed the problem.

I posted on another tread about the bolt problem on this rifle but now I have another question. My friend took the stock off this rifle (Rem 700 223 BDL, think it is a SPS model) There is a small rectangle piece of metal that fell out when he took the stock off. I don't remember ever seeing...

I have a good friend who was cleaning his Rem 700 223, somehow he turned the locking lugs on the bolt and it now won't go into the reciever correctly. I remember doing this years ago but don't remember how to fix it. Can someone please help me help a friend?? Pics would help a lot.

I am having a hard time finding a replacement mag for my Rem 700 BDL DM 300WinMag. Anyone know who might have these in stock???
