I think you're wrong on this one. You can spend 5 minutes on gunbroker looking at stainless remington 700s and see . I will also add that Town Police supply in Collinsville,Va had some stainless LTR years ago.

FWIW there is one on GB --- #1019216754 that has a C prefix serial with LI 96 on it's barrel

I owned one and lost it in a divorce. It was a late 80’s gun with a C prefix serial as well.
