I just ordered a carbon barreled action. Wanna see pics of what all you fellas are running! I know that there are pics of them in the rimfire pics thread……. But, I just wanna see your b-14r’s!

I'm waiting on a steel B14r to challenge my T1x and so my step son and I can have some fun .22 competitions so no pix yet but I've got a Tract Toric 4.5-30 and Accu-Tac BR4-G2 waiting for it. Also have a 30 MOA EGW rail. Waiting to get the rifle before ordering rings but I'll probably try American Rifle Co M10 rings. I hope to keep it in its original stock but we'll see.

First four photos represent my steel B14R as it came from the factory. The fifth is the Bergara in my Vudoo MDT LSS gen2 chassis.
It also had a Trigger Tech Diamond in her and the entire set up worked flawlessly. I was happy enough with the Factory gun that
I left her that way until about a month ago. I decided to try a Jewell HVR trigger. The trigger upgrade is a huge improvement
as far as the way it feels but I have not realized leaps and bounds of better groups. My next trigger will be a Bix N Andy free rail
trigger and an Anschutz Sensive trigger blade. I just like the feel and control of nice equipment.
I'm really happy with my $975.00 all steel rifle.

I started to look into a carbon but after I saw the pencil barrel, I was happy that I didn't get one. Though I wouldn't mind if my barrel was
fluted to save weight and give it some character. 2" to 4"longer would suit my taste better as well. I doubt I want that well enough to ever
do a barrel swap. It's just one of my Pew Pew guns.... lol

Anyone that looks into the MDT LSS - XL gen 2.... beware..... The rifle stock or butt end comes in two lengths. The longer one was $100.00
cheaper then the shorter one. I have my guns set up at about 13.5" LOP so if I had accidently gotten the cheaper, longer stock,
I would have lost all of my adjustability. I would have had to collapse the stock completely to get a useable LOP.
I just happen to be looking at the PDFs and barely noticed the length difference. One inch as I recall.
Make sure your barrel channel is wide enough to accommodate the barrel near the receiver.....

My B14R (lefty) is only slightly modified from stock configuration. The only upgrades I've made has been to add a Harrells AR15 direct thread tuner (not in this pic) Timney Calvin Elite trigger, and I rattle canned that eyesore dalmation spot stock. Scope is a Vortex Diamondback Tactical 4-14--relatively inexpensive--especially with .mil discount--fantastic reticle, focuses down to 10 yards, and glass is clear enough for my needs.

I'm still experimenting with the tuner but at a setting of 1.4, it's been giving me roughly 1/2 MOA groups at 50 yards without fliers..... Ammo used for my testing is SK Standard Plus and prior to installing the tuner, 3/4 MOA was the best I could hope for with that ammo. ETA: The target below was shot prior to installing the tuner--even though it's a 25/25, I think I can do better. I'll be attempting this again once I get it dialed in. This target was at 25 yards--dots are .250" or roughly 1 MOA. I've got a bunch that are well inside 1 MOA but more than a few that are on the outer edge of 1 MOA......don't want anyone to think I'm claiming I shot this one at 50 yards or bullshitting about the group average size.

I also haven't had any trouble hitting a 24" x 24" plate at 400 yards but I confess that I have no idea where on the plate I'm hitting--long range with my .22s is just a fun thing I do before I head home......'pop'......4 seconds later......'ting'

Like I mentioned above, I thought I could do better on the tackdriver targets. I realized that I was having trouble keeping my ret centered in the dot....so I made my own 'precision' target.

There are 25 .15" diamonds for scoring and #26 is for sighter/adjustment. I missed 1 damn diamond by .06". Target was set up at 25 yards, and I'm going to see how bad it falls apart at 50 this weekend.

15 rounds shot cold from straight out of the bag....riding in the truck all week. 50yds. Shooting SK.

First 5 on center bull. Cold bore being the low left. Then just went clockwise as shown.

Just a faint breeze and 73°F.

Wish this carbon would shoot. The internet says carbons don't shoot and don't balance. Weird.

Are all of your cold bore shots off about this much? I recently had a b-14r and shot sk rifle match red box and every cold bore shot was 2-4moa off no matter what I did clean dirty in between tried running a patch with some sk barrel lube off a separate box on it and that was the only thing that helped it stay under 2 moa shift but it never shot tacks on the first round even a hour of sitting in the cold weather was enough to throw the first round

how do you like the Harrell tuner brake?
Shooting at steel targets from 100 to 300 yards I do think it helps with vertical stringing. It does add an extra step in cleaning but really isn’t too bad. Shooting a box of ammunition at a single aim point at different ranges with and without the tuner would be the best way to find out how beneficial it is I just haven’t done it.

Not always that bad. But then I am not too concerned given the application and my environment. I count the number of days of shooting in low single digit wind on one maybe two hands a year.

It was sprinkling a little this morning but not too bad so I took my B14R out for a 50 yd practice session with SK Long Range.

This is one of the target sets I use at 50 yds. I did pretty good on the first sheet, my group could've been better without the vertical but I seemed to pull it together.

Shot this one almost clean but ganked a shot off the barricade.

It had been a while since I'd done any meaningful sling work and it felt like it.

Does anyone have any experience or concerns with using an Oryx chassis with this action? I ordered my barreled action today, I want a chassis so it mimics my big rifle, but I don't want to spend a grand on a chassis. Thanks!

I can't comment on using an Oryx for the B14r but I have my T1x in one and like it a bunch, especially for its reasonable cost. I bought a complete B14r steel barrel and hope to keep it in its stock for a while but if I decide to upgrade I'll certainly be considering another Oryx.

    @Gtar

That is one of the nicest rifles I've seen---specs?
Thanks, it's just a steel barrel B14R barreled action in an X-Ray stock. I made a longer arca spigot and a rail for it and some brass forend weights as well as an ambidextrous cheekpiece. It's got a 30 MOA rail, Rifle Basix trigger, Bushnell DMRii 3.5-21 in Zeiss rings and a Docter red dot. It shoots really well with Eley edge and Center-X. I just swapped that scope for an illuminated one because we shoot our matches at night so it's handy to be able to see the full reticle for holdovers.

My new B14r at our local public range. Really enjoying it. I think I like it more than my Tikka T1x.
