Boris Johnson resigns. Who will lead UK now?

Well the obvious candidates are...
- Raab. Possibly a sociopath in bad way
- Patel. Stupid and mean
- Rees-Mogg. Stupid and accidentally callous
- Truss. Nigel F. with a vag
- That bloke who gave covid contracts to his buddies and got caught fingering his assistant. Hancock. That's his name.

It's not a great pool to be fishing from...

The mayor of London. Sadiq Khan

Trust me, there are no viable alternatives in the current cabinet

Johnny Mercer - Conservative MP, ex Commando Gunner, fights tirelessly for veterans - would be a good leader, but isn't from the right school for them to vote him in.

The even more unfortunate thing is, there is no viable opposition either.

Boris resigning just means that his wife is no longer running the country.........

Don't forget the moat.....
He's around Llano so we're in a drought here in Central TX so no H20 for a moat but the tower looks like a good place to mount a couple Ma deuces:)
Not that he'd have anything remotely like that.
Maybe some gentleman on here could bring some cannon?
Hey, I'm in and just a short drive away. We could call it the New Alamo but with a distinctly different outcome.

Not many good ones left all that made it back had musket ball ass illness.

We should be magnaumus and send the dynamic duo of Crazy Uncle Joe and Kamala over to run their country and we should have another election.

I'm sure whomever they pick will be eager to continue to fuel the proxy war in Ukraine.

Well, we sure could use a Maggie Thatcher and a Ronald Reagan right now.

1) Both of them were part of the Greatest Generation and for whatever reason, our last 20 years of adventures overseas didn't produce those sort of leaders and/or older generations (<cough> Boomers) have acted as gatekeepers.

2) Even if leaders like this could be found and elected into positions of power, the entrenched interests would render them useless. Part of this is the fact that the "deep state" had over a quarter-century to grow roots, and part of this is the inability of such leaders to form useful alliances within their own branch and across to other branches of government.

FWIW, Boris wasn't this sort of transformational leader, either. A lot of people liked him because he tied himself to Brexit and was willing to say politically-incorrect things, but that behavior by itself isn't leadership.

Historically, most moats were dry.
