Night Vision NV and thermal kills...

Lol gut shot every single one? Jeez
Those are just two of the 100 or so I shot this year. The really ugly one was sitting downhill looking up at me. The bullet entered his chest and traveled the length of his body before exiting his lower back. He fell backwards and never twitched. The other one was just a rushed shot on a double that needed a follow up to put him down.

"This is the way"....

No Kill Mystery .
I don't get it ? . I now have this HalfAssed equipment distrust in the back of my brain when going out again . 1st time this has ever happened .

Was out 3 nights back. setup, did a few barks . had a full size dog stroll in and posed at about 110 yards . It was a 'Gimme Shot'. Put the x-hairs on the front shoulder center and fired .
Shooting .30 cal. 110-Vmax's @ 3150 Vel. . So not holdovers and the Load is a proven tackdriving laser . Fired and No Dead Dog . Seen Dog fast tracking off about 300 yard and stopped and paced a little and left .
I have the rifle scope knobs taped, so no accidental bumped moved . Witness marks for NV mounting position same every time . I am still scratching my head with WTF ?

Went out last night, couple hours after sunset, to double check rifle Scope, Laser and NV's POI .
Peeking behind the rife scopes Obj. with the PVS14 . Fired 1 Round Cold Bore for rifle scope POI @ 100 yrd. was a perfect dead center .
Put on NV in-front of Scope, Laser was good witness to Scopes center Ret X-hair .
Then fired 1 round at @ 100 yrd. target using NV . Was right on target center, 1/2 moa right of perfect POA center . So I still got GTG on NV collimation witness to rifles zero .
The V-max's are not getting pushed to limit for bullets over-spin and popping . Is not a new batch of hand loads, no new powder, and bullets same Lot# I been shooting for longtime . Same old recipe, and rifle I been popping coyotes with for long time.

The TTSX seem to be working a lot better than the speer projos.
I'm going to be using Lehigh controlled chaos projos this year, as I'm running out of Nosler ballistic tips and want to try a lead free projo.

Man, I know that the Gold Dots can work...they just didn't work for me. The final straw was when I was on my way home from the video I did show, and caught a good sized sounder out in a hay meadow. I hit 5 pigs - none were huge, actually 3 were shoats - and 4 of those 5 pigs got up and ran off. That is unacceptable to me.

^ I had somewhat similar results with the 6.8 and the 115gr Fusion...which is why there's only one video I made of them. The same thing happened to Todd Huey...he started a whole series on the 115 Fusion...only to have it stop after the first video.

I think that the trend is bonded soft points are much better on precise shots, but fall behind other designs once the hits aren't absolutely perfect. I still think it would make a dandy deer bullet.

I've actually got a box of 112gr CC for the 6.8. At some point I'll use them. I have seen some successful videos on coyotes. I've also seen some failures with their brass bullets...not sure if they make those still, but I'd stick with the copper.

Maybe I'll be able to continue to see pigs for a while. I was having a long run of nothing for quite some time before the surgery anyway. After these TTSX in the Grendel I'll probably try one last bullet in that cartridge before retiring that rifle to just daytime target shooting.

Best of luck with your Lehighs this season, and I'm looking forward to seeing how they do for you.

Hay Bales stacked everywhere you go. So Saturday morn. about 02:00 , No Moon, but So DRY and crunchy, could not do any field walking. as every step would be heard few hundred yards away .
So I just parked and walked across the road to hay field edge, and set-up to a small scrub tree on my backside on the other side of the roadside ditch, so as not to highlighted by occasional passing vehicles to my backside .
Did Electronic call, with same time calling on-top that with hand call . Pulled in two Coyotes running in together . This male 'the closest' of the two @ 88 yard, and popped him with a .30-223 and 110 Vmax @ 2400 Vel.

Finally used-up the barrel on the .25x45 AR this year, So had to swap night platforms and took-out the .308 a couple times for dogs. but that was just way to much horsepower for night coyotes around here . 1st time I took out the old 30-221 Rem. Boltgun out on Coyotes for about 6 years . Forgot just how nice it is to shoot . No recoil, and Suppresses with just a nice light snap when fired. Forgot just how pleasurably loud bullet impact is with that.. THhhhWaaaPOP .

Another No Moon night . I setup but not even call yet, when I scanned and seen 2 coyotes standing off in field staring in my direction . I assumed I was busted before even calling because they were backing off , So I grabbed handcall and did a couple quick calls and seen one do a wide arch and then I lost the other one from view, and then lost both of them . So walked out and setup my electronic call did a couple sets, and seen a dog moving threw low brush in a wide arch . So I pulled trigger . Was 108 yardage and female dog .

My .25x45 was doing 2750 , and my 308 with 110's doing 3150 vel. . Not used to the slow Vel. ( 2400 fps ) of the 30-223 yet . Was funny.. the split second after trigger pull, I thought I Missed shot . Then just as that thought went threw brain, I finally heard the impact report hollow drum Thump get back to my ear.

Been good week, it one of those rare weeks where it feels dogs are looking for me . Moon getting bigger and filling up, but it finally set after 11:00 pm so went out to a huge open field acreage .
On the walk out, I got bum rushed by 2 dogs running in even before I was setup and had a round chambered . I had to flip the tall bi-pod down and fast sit down in the wide open short stubble grass field . The Male I popped came in under 50 yard range to stare at my short silhouette shadow of me sitting . Popped him with other dog hauledass and stood off over 500 yrd. out pacing then left.
I stayed out there in open field for another hour, had 2 more dogs start coming in, but they were downwind of the dead dog less than 50 yard in front of me. So they got the badJuJu feeling and turned 180 .

Friend called the last couple nights saying something was bugging his dogs. I headed over there tonight when he called and spotted this guy in the pasture from his driveway as I got out of the pickup. 350 yards resting off his dumpster 😂 My longest recovered hit with the Halo 25mm.
