About to start loading 22lr

some context/understanding for me and my cut and thread question yesterday.

Do you think your longer, heavier 22 projectiles will act more like a large center fire through a suppressor in reference to back pressure and velocity? I know it has more, or seems like more impact on bigger calibers.

Gen1 bullet in the 23” .217” barrel. Aa9 is quite a bit slower than Longshot. Ran out of capacity and didn’t blow a case so it would be a safe powder to use in this setup, in that, you don’t run the risk of an over charge blowing a case and getting stuck in the barrel

Ok, so this got shot over the AB radar yesterday. There was quite a bit of interest in how things were going to turn out. Things learned:
-My magnetospeed is giving me about 20fps faster readings than their radar with both copper and lead.
-Something happened and my spreads opened up.
-My fast twist barrel cut bc variation in half as compared to my buddy’s shot on the same day
-The copper had a little higher bc variation than I had hoped for but still 20%ish less than standard lead in a standard barrel.
-The bc of my bullet is over DOUBLE!!! that of standard lead💪🏼

I googled PCC earlier and they are still listed. Hope they are still up and running. They were always building some really cool, off the wall, new toy. I haven't been in contact with them for several years. I'm sure there a SH members from the Florence area. It's an area with lots of shooters and a great gun range.
I am I’ll have to look them up

Going to start loading 22lr. Got a buddy at Badlands precision to make the bullet. Think I’ll start with something in the Red Dot 🔴 burn rangeView attachment 7438814View attachment 7438815
Geno what is the cost per squeeze on your most recent recipe of 22l please? Thanks...hope to see ya down this way one day. Also if you don't mind would be interested to hear how far out and what kind of accuracy you have been seeing. Thanks...have a buddy looking at doing something 6mm, but this might be right up his alley too for the distances he shoots.

Powder costs are next to nothing given that most loads are in the 3/5gr area. Bullets we’re .52 when I had the last batch ram a long time ago, with the cost of everything going up, I’m sure that’s increased a bit as well. Finally, the cost of brass, that’s all determined by how high quality you’re willing to disassemble in order to use the case. I got the number to the Eley president and I’ll be calling this week or next to try and see if they have any more interest at this time vs the last time they were asked

I'm in for a large quantity of brass. At least 5k. Please keep me in the loop.

Thx. AZ

FYI, I ordered some of the Badlands bullets a couple months ago, and at that time they were asking $24/box of 50. I would be willing to sell some of them if you want to try them out. They look like great bullets, but my barrel has the CE chamber with the long throat and the accuracy was not that good in that chamber. I might do some more testing with them, but at this point that is low on my to-do list.

The ce chamber is long throated? That’s odd considering is basically a bore rider with a driving band

The Manson/CE reamer for the 50gn CE bullet has a .150 long .2215 diameter freebore. For the 32gn and 42gn CE bullets, there is a .075 freebore. I'm not sure why they did it that way, although I vaguely recall them saying something like it allows the bullet to build more speed. It does seem to work decently with the CE bullets.
