Not from CA.

But just in case someone wasn't paying attention.

Governor effectively has banned any minor (<18 yo) from going to shooting ranges or participating in any shooting sports. This is effective July 1, 2022 due to an EMERGENCY clause. lol

Organizations are already cancelling events (Boy Scouts, etc.) that involve any minors.

Will PRS, USPSA, UML, etc. follow?

One of the fastest steel shooters in the world right now is a 15 year old from California. It will be interesting to see how this is applied.

Don’t be surprised when CalGuns, GOA or some other group files suit and a Federal judge throws an injunction on enforcement of this and many other laws post NYSRPA. SCOTUS laid the groundwork for striking down almost any gun control laws when they declared that intermediate scrutiny MAY NOT be applied when deciding 2a cases and set “text as informed by history” as the standard. There is already a challenge to the Constitutionality of the NFA and many others that haven’t made the news yet. NY and CA can pass all the stupid laws that they want, the laws won’t survive a legal challenge. The only annoying thing is we have to wait for these cases to make their way through the courts

Local clubs already banning minors from entering promises.

The unfortunate thing is that governments don't care about the SCOTUS decision. We have already seen that (NY).

I’ll be surprised if NY doesn’t get dick smacked with an injunction, the courts aren’t necessarily friendly towards 2a rights but judges don’t get considered for higher court benches if too many of their decisions get reversed so they will ultimately choose their careers over their anti 2a beliefs.

So how does a law specifically related to advertising/marketing to minors translate to banning minors from shooting ranges (when accompanied by adult over 21 - as required by CA law)?

This will also be struck down. It just depends on how long that will take.

My buddies and I were hunting and camping with our guns, without some adult slowing us down, since we were 12.

I earned my Marksmanship merit badge in Scouts when I was 11.

This is the ban hammer:
Covers most, if not all, ranges...

(A) A person, firm, corporation, company, partnership, society, joint stock company, or any other entity or association engaged in the manufacture, distribution, importation, marketing, wholesale, or retail sale of firearm-related products.

(i) Advertises firearm-related products.

Not saying it's not true but I don't read a ban for minors at ranges into that and can't find a single thing on google search about minors being banned from CA shooting ranges.

I think a lot of what's being missed here is The Long Game: you prevent the education of safe handling of firearms and 2A protections for the younger generation... You effectively ban all firearms use due to unfamiliarity and 'badness' associated with them. These people will be the future legislators of the state.

There was an email that was sent out regarding this. I think CRPA? Or may be 2A Foundation? Can't find it.

That would effectively kill junior highpower rifle shooting in California. When the Grizzlies return from Camp Perry, that's it until this goes to trial.

It is reassuring, that the smart people in charge have discovered the root cause of gun violence by minors, and are using the power of the state to rid us of this scourge once and for all. Who knew it was these "advertisers" all along. Amazing.

All the Cali Pedos (Greasy Gav, Shifty Schiff) just don't want the kids to shoot them....

Fuck Commiefornia

The problem is that it takes years to get struck down and in the meantime we are stuck with the insanity.

Exactly. You're removing the heritage of guns from America.

Next on the list will be balls and penises, the root cause of all progressive societies problems.

Yep. It's like those CA residents that are too afraid to take their illegal (in CA's eyes) rifles to the range for fear of arrest. Yet they claim they are somehow "resisting" by simply keeping it hidden at home.

How is it possible to market to minors? You could make them fun crazy colors and have silly commercials with cartoon animals telling the kids this is the gun they really want... and they still can't buy the fucking things.

Kind of reminds me of laws banning grenade launchers on rifles. It can't launch something that doesn't exist, and since I can't buy grenades, it's a much a grenade launcher as it is a nuclear missile launcher.

No one in USPSA is going to give a shit. Fuck the boy scouts because they are pedo loving ass pirates.

absafrigginlootly

hunting decreases, shooting sport decreases, can't even have a pop-tart gun in school. people who haven't experienced the shooting sports will not be standing up for us down the road.

Not USPSA... but clubs/ranges will certainly cancel stuff. Cameo is a big example of what happens.

Cameo didn't cancel anything. USPSA did.

Anyway, Cameo is a state run range. 99% of the shooting sports are held on private property and no one, absolutely no one, gives a shit about crap like this.

Like I said, grow a pair and ignore unconstitutional laws.

Didn't you just say USPSA wouldn't give a shit? Doesn't that mean... They did?

I'm not disagreeing with you but people with monetary links to clubs, ranges, etc are certainly not immune to lowest-risk route.

Getting sued by the state or, worse, illegally harassed by them is not for the faint of heart unless they have money to defend themselves.

Individual shooters certainly don't care, but what CA defines in Section A of the law do.

Good Luck with 2(b) and (c).

"(B) Offers brand name merchandise for minors, including, but not limited to, hats, t-shirts, or other clothing, or toys, games, or stuffed animals, that promotes a firearm industry member or firearm-related product.
(C) Offers firearm-related products in sizes, colors, or designs that are specifically designed to be used by, or appeal to, minors."

USPSA left Cameo because they didn't want to force members to make a choice.

Individual USPSA clubs and members are a different story.

It's simple, you can cave in or you can defy.
