I like vids on rogue waves. Do you know the source of this gif?
Edit: @Maple One got it before me.

Here is one.

Corbett’s Couloir in Jackson Hole for those who dont know.

Some moron from work the other day was asking how many 14ers I have “done”.

I asked “summer ascent, Winter ascent, skied, or done more than 1 in a day?”
I don’t know if they still do it but back in the day Jackson Hole used to have a “Ski the Big One” promo where you tracked your runs and they gave you pins for 100k vertical. I knocked out 100k in about 4 days once, but I never, ever went that way off of the tram. I had enough trouble with the mogul fields when you went right, dropping into chutes was well beyond me.

Actually did the 100k plus in one week twice.

Awesome. Catherine Destivelle soloing El Matador on Devil's Tower. Well, part of it. I met her at Indian Creek back in the 90's. A bunch of us were getting together for the kind of abuse one goes to a place like IC to find. Catherine was there with Jeff Lowe (RIP) and they hooked up with our crew after seeing my friend Jaime working a first ascent of an offwidth beast of a route. Catherine is a real sweetheart, but when she climbs something hard, it is game on. Her resume is incredible, but she's humble as can be. Well, she did put a deep burn on Lowe one night. Now I respect the hell out of Jeff Lowe and learned much from climbing with him when I was young. But he was a bit quirky for a certifiable badass. Someone had a bottle, I think it was Jack and we were just passing it and taking slugs. Lowe poured some into his cup and Catherine said: "Just drink it, you pussy!" and brought the house down.

I worked for Alpine-Lowe for the Summer of 87' after graduating HS and before entering CU. I'd see the Lowe brothers in the warehouse as I was assembling packs, etc.

*maybe it was Lowe-Alpine. I can never remember.

Yes, Lowe Alpine. I still have one of their large capacity packs around here somewhere. Thank you for your mountaineering service.

Wish they'd make a (great) movie about the EF. That song has spoken to me since I was a child. Grew up going to my GF's camp on Lake Ontario so I feel connected to the song.

I feel you on that. I lived in mid-MI for 22 years and did trips to the UP in all seasons. If you're up on Lake Superior's coast in the winter, it makes "Lake Superior, it's said, never gives up her dead, when the gales of November come early" feel very real. Swim in Superior in late October, go ahead.

Glad to know there's other climbers on here. I seem to not meet many gun aficionados in the climbing community. Thank for the story. I met Jeff a few times. I always thought his diagnosis especially fucked as he may have been the best athlete on the planet when he was in his prime.
