Garmin tactix 7 Pro Ballistics

I received today my Kestrel 5700 Elite Ballistic with AB, and it is impossible to pair it with the Garmin Tactix 7pro AB. I don't understand as both are in the ecosystem AB. It seems that all communication of Garmin where all systems including AB ecosystems capable to dialog themselves with the Tactix7 AB is wrong.
I think normally you use one or the other, not both. I own both but only use my kestrel for wind and a DA second check now. Batteries last all season.

Sorry for the non shooting related question but I'm already sold on that side of things and I can't find this anywhere. I currently have the Approach S62 that I use for golf all the time. Has anyone used the golf function or app on this watch? If so, is it at all comparable to Garmin's golf watched such as the S62?

Have had yesterday an update on the tactix 7 pro ballistic. I tried to connect the kestrel 5700 Elite and... I could see the kestrel in the sensor menu (we are progressing ) but impossible to have a real connection.

The Approach 62 and the Golf app on the Tactix are pretty close to the same functionally. There are some slight UI differences.

Going to ask a silly question, based upon a couple of earlier posts. I have a Garmin 4500NV, it has AB software and will import custom profiles (a similar Model wont). Will this pair with the Tactix 7 pro Ballistic?

No

Tactic 7 not pairing with sig kilo 10

Sig is set to BDX external

Tactic 7; sensors/accessories, add new, AB,
Searching for sensor screen appears, then message ‘no sensor found’

What am I missing.

Do you have the current software on both the Tactix and the Kilo 10? You can upgrade the watch OTA if you've paired with the Garmin Connect app on your phone or using the Garmin Express app on your PC or Mac. To upgrade the Sig I believe you'll need to use the BDX app.

Why would you need to do that? They are devices meant to produce the same result.

Sure, Kestrel 5700 Elite AB do simply that. You do not need to have enough. But when you buy a garmin watch with AB, you are waiting the watch could be connected itself with an environmental instrument like Kestrel as they describe in the Garmin marketing internet site, in order to measure the wind speed which is one of the most important parameter for long range shooting. Today the watch see the kestrel, but refuse to have a reliable connection. It don't works ! So prefer to have directly a Kestrel Elite Ballistic, you have the calculator and the environmental instrument, it works ! "cherry on the cake", you may connect your kestrel with a compatible rangefinder (for exemple: Sig 3000 bdx).

Also, is your Sig connected to your phone? I believe you need to disconnect from the phone first. I think it will only connect to one or the other at a time.

I just came across this little engineering marvel while I was looking at the Garmin Montana series for an elk hunt I'm planning for next year. I have a couple of questions before pulling the trigger.

I read through both threads here and this isn't clear, at least not to me. Will the Pro Ballistic version pair with the Kestrel 5700 Ballistics Weather Meter with LiNK (Non Elite)?

Is it possible to connect with my iPhone, view the maps on my phone, and manage waypoints on the phone? Like I said I was looking at the montana series with the largish touch screens. Essentially, I'd like for my iPhone to serve as the montana series UI through using the tactix 7 Pro Ballistic edition sensors. Ultimately, I'd like to be able to view the maps on something larger than a watch. FWIW, at this price point I'd expect it to have this capability and it's the only way I'd pay the price asked.

Is Garmin still supporting this thread and answering questions?

If you could answer these 2 questions I really would appreciate it.

No. The Tactix does not currently pair with any Kestrel devices. As a general rule, if we are able to pair with a third party device it will most likely be another AB device.

As for connecting to your iPhone to view the maps, we don't do exactly that. We do have a mobile app called Garmin Explore that will allow you to view the maps and interact with them on the phone. The Tactix and the phone can share waypoints, routes, courses and tracks between them.

for the record, a kestrel elite is an AB devie. Lets make this happen. many of us want it and i know you are losing shooters as buyers because of the lack of it.

If it won't connect with Kestrels then what windage sensors does it pair with?

I'm assuming the app is completely separate from the tactix 7 and doesn't use its sensors? If so then it seems the app would be unusable if in the back country without any cell signal?

Thanks for taking the time to answer questions!

It doesn't currently pair with any weather sensors.

You're correct that the app doesn't use sensors from the Tactix, but cell signal is not a requirement for anything on the app as long as you select the maps for your area for download before you leave coverage. Once the maps are on the phone, everything is stand alone and not reliant on cell coverage.

except the tempe if you consider that a weather sensor

Ive been looking at the Calypso wind meter as I heard it could connect to the Garmin Watch. Seams there is an app for it. Hoping someone has experiance with it on the Garmin.

I bought one and returned it. It works with the tactix but only shows wind speed in knots. The phone app will show mph, kmh and knots but the watch is only knots. No response when I emailed them asking about when mph would be supported.

Thanks for the input. I was hoping it would be good news

I apologize as I can be dense sometimes and still don't fully understand the latter. The app must detect my position to be of use. So are you telling me that the app operates off the gps signal in my phone? Is it the same gps capability as the garmin? If that's all true then would the app on my phone not make the montana series redundant and obsolete?

I hear you loud and clear on the windage sensors. Your website indicates that it was designed to pair with windage sensors. (https://support.garmin.com/en-US/?faq=sGYDr7hXhE7xupyy3pGp0A) Do y'all plan to bring a compatible sensor to market or pair with an industry partner to bring one to market?

No, the Kestrel 5500 is not compatible with the tactix. Here is the current list of compatible bluetooth devices.
Hello, is there a list of Wind Sensors that will pair with the Tactix? Also, I have the Sig 3000 binos paired to the BDX6 5-30 scope and have been trying to figure out how to get the wind readings from my Tactix to appear on the horizontal readings in the scope. Any help would be appreciated and thank you for making awesome products.

Are you talking about the inputs to the ballistic solution or the outputs? The Wind1 and Wind2 output values that are part of the solution should show up by default if the watch is paired and the binos are in AB External mode. Is this not happening:?

I am referring to the output values that hopefully end up on the Scope radicle. The BDX app allows me to input a wind value that will appear im my BDX scope's horizonal part of the radicle. I was hoping that I can manually input the win on the watch and will eventually feed to my scopes reading after lazing the target. I currently get a shooting solution in my scope but not windage. The attached video has the windage holdover enabled. Would love for this all to work. Thank you in advance.

Will this Kestrel (Link Below) integrate with the Tactix via Bluetooth for wind readings? If so, is it a live feed or a snapshot (like push a button to take a reading or will it continually take readings?) Also, will it capture the angle of wind relative to my shooting direction?

No, only the Kestrel Ballistic Weather Meters with Applied Ballistics will pair with the Tactix (v9.33 required) for use in the AB app. It is a snapshot, not a live feed.

Beginning with the v9.33 software, released today, we are compatible with the Kestrel Weather Meters that contain Applied Ballisitcs.

I have a dumb question. My Tactix is updated to the latest. How does it take a snapshot of the Kestrel's data? I can connect the Ketrel and look at environmentals in the AB menu on the watch but it looks like it's using what I'd manually entered for humidity.

If you're connected to the Kestrel, go to the Environment menu in the AB app on the watch. Scroll down to Humidity and press Enter/Select (top right button) and you should see two menu options "Use Kestrel Data" and "Edit". Edit will take you to the normal edit screen and Use Kestrel Data will pull the data from the Kestrel.

If you go straight to the edit screen and don't see those two menu options when you select Humidity, your watch isn't connected to the Kestrel. Go back to the Sensors page and confirm that the Kestrel is showing as connected. If you can't even edit, they auto-update is turned on and the watch will pull data from the Kestrel every 5 minutes.

Why does the Kestrel need the AB software if the tactix 7 already has that software built in? Any kestrel with bluetooth should be able to transmit raw data to the tactix 7 and the AB software on the tactix 7 should be able to input it just like it would do if it was on the kestrel. I shouldn't need to pay the premium for the AB software on 3 different devices. The only device that theoretically needs the AB software is the device that gives the shooting solution output. What am I missing?

ok.. so i have the Sig Kelo 3000 binoculars, Sig SierraBDX6 5-30x56 scope and the Garmin Tactix with applied ballistics elite. I am having problems making all 3 work together. The binos tell me i need to set ABE so it connects to the watch but once i do that, the binos wont communicate with the scope. anyone have advise to get the firing solution to display on my scope? i tried connecting the scope with the watch but wouldn't connect.

@Garmin

It’s possible that the Sig BDX optic can only connect to one device at a time. I know that Kestrel had to update their units to manage 3 devices together. I couldn’t find much information on getting that combo your trying. To work together. You might be stuck with the sig BDX app ,sig kilo3000 bino and BDX optic combo. Best of luck and hope someone out there has more answers for you.
