Have you try this bullets for ELR? I will make a new 33” barrel in 1:8 with a throat for this bullets. I just wondering if I will us N570,N565 or N560? I want high speed and low es.

I use today a 1:10 barrel and use scenar 300gr and 285gr eld with N570

I use them in a .338LM Improved 40. The normal go-to powders for that cartridge (N570 & RL33) are a bit slow for this bullet, so I use N565. Unfortunately, I've haven't had enough opportunities this year to take them beyond a mile to see how well they handle beyond the 2000m mark.

According to the QuickLoad data Warner sent me…N570 and RL-33 are the top performers w the 338 LM AI and 285 FL! I hit 3350 FPS w the 256 Flatlines and N570 in a 30 inch 1-9 twist. Waiting to chamber up the 1-8 before I play w the 285 Flatlines.

I use them and 265’s in my 1-8 338 edge.
I’d recommend a twist of at least 1-8 for them.

With N570 I can safely get a bit over 3000 with the 285.
Had them to just under 2 miles so far and they did well.
The 265 is an excellent option as well.

Be careful with the Warner data with the 285 badlands because for me it’s the hot ticket to a sticky bolt.

Geno, how fast are you pushing those 285 Badlands?

Heading out to start mapping for pressure w the 33xc and 275/285 solids. Will report back.

Copy Geno, I know that is for the 338 Carnie… I never take load data from online without working up. I don’t think you could compress 139 gr h-50 into a 33xc case 🤣🤣

33XC Warner 285 FL w n570 tested up into pressure. Started at 338 LM AI charge and ran up just shy of 3300 fps (to hot in my rifle). Going to fine tune this load around 3200 fps (safe load) Odd that 10 gr swing in powder charge weight shot a .5 inch 6 shot group at 100. This barrel/bullet likes the same jump I use In my 338 LM Ackley Improved.

Sorry to Hijack a bit but out of curiosity how does your guys charge weight change from going to a solid vs cup and core, like say you went to a 285gr ELDM could you use similar charge weight or would it differ significantly?

Impressive rifle and gear!

I'm an old coot, not super saturated in guns like so many here, I got started too late in life, with Obama....... But boy, did I get hooked. I recently acquired some Warner Tool Company 338 Flat Line Projectiles, 285 with "TUBB Nose Ring, whatever that is. Man, what a sleek, beaufitul sexy bullet!!! Appears to be turned solid copper, I forget, I'm an old coot. It's a little bit longer than the 285 ELD I normally use. And did I say it was sleek and sexy ??? This is the kind of bullet you'd want to use to out-Carlos Carlos.

Wondering if any of you out there have used it can recommend me a powder and load? I have Prime, Hornady and Lapua brass if that makes any diff. I use 91.4 gr. of Retumbo for about 2700fps. I'd dream of some of the speeds I see here! Thanks for any help!

Warner has STARTING load data for Flatline bullets on his site. Ck your barrel twist, start w Lapua brass and .010-.013 jump has been the ticket for accuracy w the FL in a few of my barrels.

The Tubb nose ring is a little groove in the nose of the bullet that is supposed to help the bullet stabilize through transonic. Yes they are solid copper which is lighter than lead so they will be longer to equal same weight.

What cartridge are you shooting? Warner has A LOT of load data on their website.

Has anyone ever shot an animal with these bullets? I'm running low on 7mm bullets and these may be an option

THANKS! It finally occurred to me to check their website, after I posted on the Hide. Tonight I go to the library!

Appreciate it, that finally occurred to me. I might be slow, but I'm slow! Let's see if I can collect this info and get her done..... Thanks!

Flatlines are a NON-expanding solids, not meant for hunting. PVA, Badlands and Cutting Edge make high BC expanding hunting bullets.

Thanks for that heads-up! I'm just a target shooter, so no worries. Not a quick killer, depending on the shot, eh?

Thanks for the heads up! I'm just a target shooter.

I'll need to get some of these in reserve, however, in case of a zombie insurrection.

i just finished my 338 Lapua AI 40°. 32" 1:8 twist barrel.
105grains of N570 gives me 950m/s 3117ft/s.

Plan is to stretch it out to 2 miles this year. but first will be 2250 m in March.

Anyone has already experience with transsonic stability of this bullet?
Got some with and without >Tubb nosering wondering what that will do.

Have some but saving them for when I can get to a 1000 range again. I'm stuck in short range territory, SE coastal SC. The only time I get to shoot ELD is when I attend an annual shoot on a private island most years......

PLEASE post your results when you get them, and thanks for the load data above!

Happy Trails......

I have a nearly identical load, but only did an initial test inside of a mile, which was very limiting. Since Nov I've been planning to try them in competition in the 2000-3000 yard zone. Will post results as soon as the weather stops canceling competitions.

Hey Dogtown ~ May I ask what your cartridge overall length was with these flatlines? I'm attempting to get the ogive close to the lands and am coming up with 3.552, which leaves about .300 grip on the bullet (is it deep enough?). Thanks for any help! rottenruger

Loaded up some Warner tool 285s for Italy in March. Cant wait to stretch the 338 AI out to 2200m.
105 grain N570 and OAL of 106mm. gives me arount 950m/s.
Should be a beast. dope for 900m was 4.9mil. but the was the only 2 rounds shot beyond 100m sadly.

Great! That's right where I'm at, give or take just a bit. Using H4831 given powder scarcities. Won't be able to get speed, my Chrono won't fit my RPR. Maybe get lucky and find someone with a radar at the range. I'm just shooting 500 yards, gotta travel a bit to get o 1000 yards. Thanks for the feedback!

finally it was time to do some long range shooting.
Spent the last 3 days on the "skiritai legacy" range in Italy (about 9hours drive from home) and tested the 338 LM AI with the Flatliner and Hornady ELD M out to 2200m 2400yards.
first time ever to shoot her beyond 100yard.

Wind was a pain in the a§§. strong winds and big gusts all the time. There were moments we had to hold the tents down...

.

But she performed waay better than expected!
285 WTC FL ELD-M
1680m (1837y) 14.7mil 19.3mil
1765m (1930y) 16.0mil 21.2mil
2010m (2198y) 20.0mil ------
2200m (2405y) 24.5mil ------

the eld-m were loaded a bit slower to 2952fps the Flatlines ran 3097fps at about 10°C (50F). The wind was soo bad i had to dial 6,5mil left at 2200m and still had to hold between 0.5R to 1L... Also shooting over that valley made it tough to read wind. the 2200m targert was way higher than the firing position so the bullet traveld quite far up and winds there were bad but not possible to read.
