I ran into a need for something recently and the more I thought about it the more I realized that there appears to be a lot of utility for this plate and there's a hole in the market.

So... here it is:

PVA ARCA to PIC plate, short version.

The plate is designed for a light, robust, easy option that allows a mounted scope (already in rings or mount) to be clipped to this plate and then to a ball head. Mounting is super simple.

As I play with it we have more an more uses.

Using a rifle scope as a spotter has major utility for match weekends where you really don't need 60x, overload from mirage and a mediocre reticle. It is also highly useful for light hunting applications. This plate weighs a couple ounces, and my spare rifle scope assembled with the plate weighs 2 pounds less than the spotting scope. Plus, if I need to I can swap the spare scope onto the rifle. I can't do that with a spotter.

A Thermal mounts directly to it, and makes a great detection tool. With an IR illuminator mounted to the thermal we have a solution that allows a spotter to act as the detection and illumination with a steady hand. The guy on NV doesn't need to be "talked onto" the target, he just gets a gigantic IR spotlight to look at.

6061 AL Type 3 anodize (mil spec Hard Coat ano)
STANAG 6693 and PIC 1913 compatible rail on top, 11 T slots
ARCA 1.5" dovetail on the bottom
5.9x 1.5 x 5/8 inches in size
Markings for T-slots and plate location rule included

For that specific Sniper's Hide Forum Member, a disclaimer: The product is for (1) ARCA to Picatinny plate, part number PVA-2208-A1. Even though the photographs show a scope, thermal, rings, tripod, etc those are there to demonstrate the effective use to the PVA-2208-A1 product. They are not included. Plate is shown "raw" without anodizing for clarity in product photo. All parts come black anodized. IYKYK.

This looks very cool.

I also wonder if you could make this a base for tracking tester, that could be another application. (y)

GLWS.

Yes. Most people don't want to spend the $ for a dedicated spotter, but most people have extra scopes lying around.

Definite niche that's been missing something to fill it for a while.

Not having seen the RRS one I can't see anything special about either. But there is one big difference: The PVA product is in stock.

Though different takes on a design isn't exactly news in the gun industry. Striker fired pistols, bolt action rifles, tripods and ball heads for shooting... nah, there's only 1 company that makes any of them right?

Interesting solution. Some years ago I bought a few picatinny rail sections that were pre-drilled and threaded for a 1/4-20 attachment. I have been using these with whatever adapter plates I needed. Having it already integrated with an Arca dovetail definitely makes things easier, although I would have preferred to have the base pre-drilled for other mounting options. I do oddball things with these.

Interestingly, I am struggling to remember who I bought those rails from. I want to say Samson, but I could be wrong. A brief web search did not show anything like the rails I have, but these rom Z-bolt did show up: https://www.z-bolt.com/Tripod-Rail-Mount-1913-Picatinny-Interface_p_553.html#parentHorizontalTab2

They are more expensive though and still require a tripod adapter plate, while yours are already integrated. I'll keep that in mind next time I need one. It looks like there is plenty of space there to drill a few holes if I need other attachment options.

I’ve done that a long time ago when I had a Pulsar thermal scope with QD mount. I used a cheap thin aluminum arca standard mount and then drilled and tapped and jb welded a pic rail on it.

I think a lot of this is the necessity of use like you ran into. The plate has quite a bit of real estate if you want to bolt something else to it. It's wide open on the bottom.

Ordered. And I don't even have a tripod yet. Probably won't for a while anyway.
Thank you sir!

Pretty handy to have a thermal on a tripod isn't it?

Yeah it’s great since I was too poor to have a handheld thermal scanner and a thermal scope. That being said I was wondering back then how come no one made these so I just bubba smith butchered my own but it worked !

Yep, they sold out. The next batch is being cut now. I wasn't expecting quite how fast they sell out so as soon as the second batch is done I'll extend the intro pricing for that batch.
