TO PAINT OR NOT TO PAINT!?

...If someone wants to know more about a specific style, I don’t mind sharing some of the techniques I use. I’m no professional. I just like to paint. I’m still learning too.
That could very well turn into a thread all to itself!
I'm down to learn how to not make stuff look like I got my ass kicked at a paintball match lol
I’ve found a couple good places to get stencils. One place has some unique ones I haven’t found elsewhere.
I'd be interested in the stencil source if you don't mind sharing

Pm if you'd rather

Keep on posting your work because it gives ME ideas.

One of the stencils I made for my first complete failure of a camo paint job.

I present, Bancat.

I just ran rows of tape on to a thin cutting board and drew out the patterns I wanted.
Transferred them to the stock as needed.

The patterns were easy to make, but my color choices didn't blend well.
So, I repainted it two days later using the sponge technique.

Fades…..Fades are key to me to get the variation without hard breaks.

This is the base layer before I applied stencils

If I ever do it again Cerakote from a reputable sprayer. That said, I like alumahyde as well. Easy to fix issues (runs/ect) with a light sand and light respray.

I've done quite a few, just using spray paint. Actually pretty durable and easy to touch up or redo of you want. I usually hit it with matte clear at the end. I've used stencils both made and purchased, most of the time I just use sponges anymore. The bergara here I originally did B&W with some gray. Since it's mostly a range rifle .22 I thought I'd add some color. Couldn't find a sponge at the time so I used a piece of red scotchbrite for the orange.

You can some cool stuff with just a sponge

Now sponge and stencils…that could get really interesting. I bet you could make some really cool effects.

When you have the option of coming across as a cocksucker, or just not posting at all… try the latter.
I love sucking cocks, however, that has nothing to do with this.

Picasso, Banksy, Vangough, art is subjective. Could you do me a favor though? Please post a picture so I can print it out and hang it up on the fridge next to the fingerpainting and crayon drawings.

I did something similar to my SPR. I know it looks like the skulls are all along the sides of the stock. However, there's a few hidden around. I put some at the very front just like you did with the bancat.

I did forget to paint some black around these though, so they could stand out more.

And then there's these other hidden ones as well!

Do it! There are heaps of videos and pics for inspiration. I've probably painted 20 firearms over the years and the first 5 of those were paid for by Her Majesty The Queen, rest her soul. I can see why there would be some nerves before your first paint job, especially after spending hard earned cash on a rifle/chassis.

I used rustoleum camouflage paint and stuffed it up first time. The joy of it is you can strip it with thinners and start again! I'm really pleased with the finish of my latest spray job. Practice on card or something to experiment with patterns before commiting.

The good thing with distorted patterns is the more random the better, so no need to worry about accuracy with the rattle can. And I find less is more.

Get 4 colours, start with the lightest and do a base then build layers getting darker each time. That's my method.

Enjoy!
