I am currently reloading 147gr 9mm for subsonic through my Scorpion. Full 16” barrel with suppressor. I use both TiteGroup and Unique for 9mm, and can manage to stay right at 1050fps with it. It works well.

I have loaded some 165gr rounds but they are very slow at 750fps, and attempts to push faster are showing way over pressure. I need to experiment with different powders to have any chance of improving this.

Has anyone else here had any success getting 165gr 9mm projectiles to go any faster?
If so, what powder did you use?

Or am I just looking for a solution when I should just be happy with the 147gr projectiles performance?

Tight group is a little bit too fast burning for 165s. You’ll hit pressure before reaching max velocity.

I get 850 out of N330 out of a 5in barrel and that’s a soft load and I could easily increase it a little.
You could load N105 and get 1000fps.

Either way I love VV powder. N320 is very nice and clean for 147 but for 165 I think N330 is the best all around.

If purely speed, N105 should do it. I haven’t tried it myself since I keep mine exclusively for my 300BLK subsonic loads.

If you can’t find VV powders, HS6 should work or AA#7

I've been loading 165gr 9mm subs for many many years. Stupid accurate and quietest 9mm sub I've heard. I shoot them in my G19, MP5 and AR9.

N340 is the ticket. Thats all I use. 3.8gr if I'm not mistaken but will double check when I get to my computer

MadDuner from where i am sitting your problem isn’t the powder, it’s the brass powder capacity, the 9MM isn’t a large case to being with . The longer bullets take up more room in the case, which in turn leaves less room for powder, which in turn gives you lower velocity. If velocity is what your after just use the 124 Gr, probably solved.
