CZ 457

Is the MTR the only model that comes with a match chamber? Does it affect accuracy that much? I'm thinking of picking up a Pro Varmint, does it have the potential to shoot well?
The Pro Varmint i have in 16.5 is really accurate I ordered a 24 MTR barrel for it to help get more consistent muzzle velocities other than that i am happy with the pro

There are a few that have the match chamber now, but they're all on the more expensive side of the spectrum. The cz site is pretty good about laying out which is which.

There are more now. The MTR was the first, then the LRP (Long Range Precision) and now the newer version of the precision trainer with the adjustable comb. Only the LRP has the fluted match barrel though, you can buy it from CZ as a barrel only. They list is as Long Range MTR https://shop.cz-usa.com/cz-457-long-range-mtr-sr-barrel-set-22lr-20in-nitride.html
In the US the LRP is listed as discontinued, but in Europe they just came out with the "black" version, which they may bring to the US - exactly the same as the grey version.

I miss my rigid chassis (was on my 455) need one for the 457.

Would like a carbon fiber handguard as well for heat/cold control when hunting

I'm very happy with the Rigid Chassis. Love how they did the magazine release. It's integrated into the Trigger Guard (push to release).

How does the 419 Lilja barrel shoot? Its not shim adjustable right? debating on getting fixed headspace or the shimmable version if I can find any in stock :)

I have two Lilja barrels. The first one I got was from Lilja which I ordered and came with the Shim Kit. I presently use it in my PDC Chassis. The way i shimmed it will shot both Eley and SK ammo. However, it really likes the Eley out of it. The latest one i got was 419 and it is does not need the shim kit. I tried shooting Eley ammo out of it. However, i got to many FTE with the
Eley ammo. So i could not depend on the Eley ammo to shoot in a match. It really shoots good with SK, Lapua, Wolf and RWS. I'm going to use this setup (with the PRF Chassis) for a NRL22 Match this weekend. I probably take both rifles just incase. Will see how it goes.
I would recommend call Lilja and order what you want and then play with the shim kit. That's what i did. The 419 barrel will let you adjust it. You will have to find the ammo that will work out of it.

I reached out to Manners to ask if they had any plans to make a LH 457 stock and they said no.
Damn, that crushes my soul. I was just making plans for a 457 build and haven’t found any chassis to my liking so I thought Manners would be The Way.

Thanks for the reply, and glad to hear they're interchangeable! Unfortunately I'm up in Canada so I've got to source the part through the main distributor here. I'll just have to swap bolts with my 22 if I end up needing the 17 before I can get a replacement part.

I thought most of the headspace adjustments could be done on the barrel side, a la Lilja style?
I launched the extractor spring on one of my 22 cal CZ 457's a while back and ended up swapping in a bolt from another 457 that I owned. All I can say is that it worked. I really wasn't testing accuracy as it was a new to me gun anyway.

Finally was able to get out and do some shooting after about 2 months off with a broken left arm/shoulder. I was pleasantly surprised with this group at 50 yards with SK Long Range Match at 98° F. This is a 5 shot group (and yes just showing my best grouping for the day, but the other groups where acceptable). For the heck of it, I decided to try out the 24"x24" steel at 550 yards off the bench due to arm. I was able to get 8 out of 10 hits on steel. My dope was 30.5 mils and 1 mil to the right. All in all, a great day for shooting, but arm still needs more healing unfortunately.

It looks like a really great chassis for an incredible price, what length is the handguard on yours? It seems like your 18.5" barrel barely clears it, I'm wondering if the 16.5" barrel on my pro varmint will.

When i ordered the chassis, i had a choice on the length of the hand guard. I went with the longest (13.6") one. My barrel is 18.5 inches, and yes the barrel stick out enough where i can attach my suppressor (barely). BTW the suppressor is a 9mm Rugged 9. Waiting on my KGM RF22 to get out of jail. Here is a picture w/out the suppressor.

Looks great! Really looking forward to them getting back in stock, think I'll go with the shorter hand guard on mine, doesn't look like the 16.5" will clear that one. I appreciate the picture

I'm shooting TAC22 out of my 24" barrel. Getting hits to 204yds

Shot 150 rds of Eley Force out to 300 yds all were in the 1.5 - 2.5 MOA group. CZ 457 manner with a 21" match barrle. It was easy and alot of fun! Had 46.0 MOA on the dial.

Last time I tried that distance-ish, it was the last stage of a MARS match. We were shooting off a beanbag chair like thing and I missed. Lots.

KSS had the 42 grn Force on sale for $5.15 a box if you ordered it by the case. Not bad stuff at 300yds.

Since R22 is hard to find for feeding the 300WM these days, I decided to get back into 22’s so a 457 American Suppressor Ready maaaaay have followed me home last night.

Stock is a bit flimsy up front so I’m sure I’ll be swapping that out for the KRG soon. Hardest decision so far is deciding on what glass to mount. I filed the edge of serial numbers down on the bolt like others mentioned earlier and its butter smooth now, good tip, so thanks for that.

Haven’t been this excited to shoot a 22 since I was a kid. Looking forward to seeing what it’ll do once I get the glass mounted and zeroed.

Finally got my new 20" Lilja barrel installed to match my other rifle with the 16", along with the Timney trigger.

Install was very simple for both. Starting with the recommended .043" headspace to begin with.

Joined recently after purchasing a CZ 457 Youth model from Sportsmans Warehouse. Did my first NRL22 match and it was such a good time. Definitely was getting laughed at for how small the rifle was but I have a KRG Bravo on the way! Just wanted to share.

These can be modified in many ways.....congrats on the CZ.

Still needs some add ons installed and some minor fitting for the bolt relief but the backbone is cleared. Like to fill in the original cutout some and keep that pin for the bolt release from slipping out..but good with the way its turning out giving me the same ergonomics and feel of my other rifles which are all built off the MCS t4a.

They are currently in stock in a few places. Use your Google fu. 😉

ETA: I suppose it depends a bit on which model you are looking for, but still a few options.

I hope you realize that's a phony store.
No I did not and really don’t think that’s on me to investigate and verify. My point is that they are available unless you are looking for a unicorn.

Here, for the Google impaired:

Or are these fake too? 😎

Does anyone know when CZ will be producing new barrels or rifles seems they have stopped supplying them to dealers
What specifically are you looking for? It's my experience that CZ shipments of 457 rifles and barrels seem to come in waves of relatively small lots. One model at a time. When they do show, there is usually a backlog of folks waiting to purchase and they go within days. ( Local dealer almost never get a chance to grab them.) I've signed up for in stock notices with several online CZ dealers and hardly a week goes by that something doesn't go in ( and out) of stock.

Just a heads up, I had major fail to extract issues, called Lilja and they recommended I go down to .041 on the headspace. That worked perfectly.

That barrel is incredible with CX from the lot I tested.

The 16.5" At-One models are pretty common. You can find that gun for over $100 less if you know where to look. I paid $620 OTD for a new 24" AT1 last month. Try gundeals.com
I think I paid about the same for my 24" version too. Did some searching and found the gun dock had em. I *thought* I was getting a 20" rifle, but... I'll probably switch the barrel out at some point.

The KRG chassis should be here in a few days. Found that the At One isn't quite the right tool for the PRS job
