Finally felt like my pallet was in the right place to open this one up….

The nose is ridiculous. The pallet is so full and oily. Finish is a heavy medium. Lots of Sweet oak. Lots of flavors over each sip. Really on eye opener that makes you appreciate the fine’r bourbons. I can’t get enough of this one. Need to find another one to bunker

Ya worked outside yesterday, hot no shade. Fine tuning a vertical multiband hf antenna.

Ice water and German beer later.

Just too hot too crack open a new bottle.

Picked this up from a Friend. 80 proof. Nice when you just want a sip and not tag on a Barrel Proof. I get a lot of peach on the nose, very lite. It will be great to share with friends that drink that Irish stuff…

Some Cynar 70 proof on ice. Made from artichokes, but kind of tastes like a flat cola with a tiny bit of bitterness. Anyone else into the various Amaro or other herbal, bitter liqueurs?

Well this is very tasty. 80 proof so smooth as silk. Only $60 but allocated in VA unfortunately.

Do the rye, orange bitters and a shot of orange liqueur. A bit of maple syrup instead of sugar cube.

In fact talked meself into one thanks.

It's not to girly if you use strong rye and mix 3 / 1 on the liqueur.

It's what I call a clanker or a STFU coctail.

After a few WT 101's decided needed something different, a Tequila Old Fashioned. Single Gibraltar rocks glass, splash of agave nectar, a good 8-10 dashes of Jerry Thomas' bitters, 2 Oz of Tequila and some good ice. Used an older bottle of Chinaco Anejo since it was close by. Normally not what I'd use in a cocktail or mixed drink, this works fine with something like El Jimador (the cheaper line of Herradura).

Sounds good

Gotten fond of strong proofs.

You can always let a cube melt a little or chase it hut you can not fix weak sause.

There is in a lot of brands a taste difference to me as well. Subjective.

The only thing I’ve ever added an ice cube to for a few seconds has been a Bookers.

This Wellers Full Proof is 114. It’s delicious. The proof makes the finish last. A little oily helps keep the finish going. Lots of Vanilla buttercream. The oak is fantastic with a hint of cinnamon. It would be interesting to know the age statement on this. Highly recommend trying a pour if you like wheaters.

It's a no on the wheat for whiskey or beer.

My buddy likes 94 proof stuff. He didn't care for 115-130. I got him on ice cube now and he realised the flavor he was missing.

In the summer I mix or ice some times, in the winter it's normally strait or chased. The 94's just go in a chilled glass if available in summer.

Not sure where that habit came from.

There is something for everyone out there.

Definitely, was outside having a Pour with my brother a few nights ago… it was around 60 degrees… the glass got cool and the whisky started to taste off. I seem to like neat around 70-80 degrees… funny but it changes for me

The fact that I had to dig EIGHT pages deep to find this here thread tells me that the boozehounds are about to get their cards revoked!! Compounded by the fact that (as you so called "booze hounds" or "aficionados" can clearly see) I am at the bottom of the bottle, the angry rabbit says it all.....

The running joke in many liquor stores is the only reason anyone buys that is to make a bong out of the bottle.

People in the know don't buy that shit at all....people that don't buy it for the bottle and dump out the juice. Haha
The sad thing is Willett's picks for any of their sourced rye were great. That bourbon was a miss, still have most of a bottle from more than 12 years ago.

I’m in Michigan so finding Willett is not going to happen. If any of you have it available I would be interested in a bottle or 2… would like to try the 4 year Rye

Same thing goes for Old Carter. Never tried that one either

The ECBP’s are killer..12 year plus and unique per release

Purple tops...I get about 1 a yr for 225... they are rare. Gotta build those relationships

Old Carter I get 2 or 3 a year. Little easier to find and also about 200-225...

EC BP are my favorite and much easier to find. I grab every store pick I can get my hands on!

Nice collection! Yeah, they are just not available for purchase in Michigan. I have been on a Weller Full Proof kick lately. Seems like the higher proof makes the finish last forever…. The viscosity of it helps a lot to

Any particular proof point you like on the ECBP store pics? I seen a couple by me at 133, 135 and 138

I love them all...anything 130-135 have all been delicious but I'm a high proof fan.

Well I had no idea it was so terrible.....personally I think it's quite good. I have never seen it up here in my AO, it's always the same stuff around here. Past few years while vacationing or passing thru KY. I've stumbled across some great finds. Meh....service rifle sluts have different palates....

You can send it my way! For me the RR13 has a beautiful Rickhouse note… like they squeezed the barrel sweat out and bottled it with the Turkey juice…

Russell’s is top 3 for me. My daily is the Red Russell’s Reserve.
