XTR3 and seeing trace

I have an XTR3 usually run it on 14 to 16 for matches.. It is very rare for me to see trace in my PRS22 matches.. I was thinking of upgrading my scope but I wanted to ask if anyone else with an XTR3 can see trace? I know my eyes would have a lot to do with it and some other things environmental but before I upgraded and was disappointed I thought would ask for others experience's on here. My upgrade would be the ACTAR 7x35 because of the reticle.

I see trace constantly. Especially shooting rimfire.

I see it in both my comp guns, my 6GT and my 22 Dasher going nearly 3100fps.

It's not the optic.

I see trace most of the time with my 3-18 as well as 5-30 xtr3. On 22lr, 223, 6br, and 6.5x47. Environmental conditions I have heard play a roll as well. I assure you it’s not the scope. I had a kahles gen 3 and it was the same for seeing trace.

I have the XTRIII 3-18 on my 22RF and on several stages this past weekend I could see trace but on others didn’t see a thing. Lighting and Thermal makes a difference for sure.
I could see trace with my Bushnell Match Pro also.

Seeing "trace" (or the bullet flying) with a 22lr doesn't require a nice scope. I see bullets fly whenever the light conditions and background are conducive. I have seen consistently in glass as lowly as a Midas Tac 4-16 and a Strike eagle 5-25.

The XTR3 is good enough to see trace in most conditions at centerfire distances. It is a damn nice scope for the money.

Seeing trace with a 22 mostly has to do with knowing what to look for, where to look, and when to look. Once you become accustomed to the timing, and where to pick up the shot visually in the flight path, you can follow it to the target.

With a 22, shooting around 100 yards makes the time of flight long enough, and the parabola tall enough to pick it up. At 100 yards the max ordinate is still fairly close to the center of the scope so you can pick up trace even when focusing on the target. The same is true at 400-500 yards with most prs centerfire cartridges. Once you start to see it, it becomes easier to find it on farther, higher max ordinate shots.

Any word on when the 5.5-30X Illum Mil or MOA are coming out?...

I suck at shooting. Which new rifle/scope/pistol/holster/bipod/trigger/red dot/kestrel/binos/tripod will magically make me a better shooter?

Been out for a bit now. They just aren't making it to the shelves before they are sold.

I have a 30x on my 300 Norma. Put a bunch of rounds through it Saturday, I literally see no difference side by side with my nonilluminated versions other than the knurling is toned down and the magnification ring is smoother.

I'm going to get in line for another one today. If I find out how near future availability looks I'll post it here.

XTR III Pro Illum, or the standard XTR III Illum?
Thanks

According to Burris management, they are in the process right now of shipping out a bunch of these!

They are illuminated XTRIIIs, not XTR Pros.

So start contacting optics dealers to see if they have them on order. Theyll be receiving them soon. I was told that this batch comes very close to catching up on all the backorders.

I had an illuminated xtriii 5.5-30 on order directly from Burris and it came in today so hopefully lots of orders are going out!
