Steiner T6xi

LOL not even fucking close. Those cheapo asian scopes are like looking through a dirty milk bottle.
I would guess you haven't used them if thats what you think. I have owned them all. Those are the ones the PX4 most closely compares with. The glass in PX4 is not particularly good. Really nothing about it was particularly good. It was ok for price when they dumped them for cheap.

No on the Burris. Yes on the PST.

Maybe your PX4 was a dog. Mine compares well against a Razor Gen2 which I have used.

The 2.5-15 or 3-18 sound promising. Looking forward to some reviews.

5-30 with the MSR2 reticle showed up today. I'll be comparing it with my 7-35 ATACR and a US made 5-30 XTR3 once I get that back from Burris. Initial impressions are very good

2.5-15 had my interest until I saw weight and reticle. 32 oz too much for an MPVO IMO, and the SCR reticle too thin for 2.5x use.

But the 3-18x56 has piqued my interest especially with MSR2 reticle, if they are using XTR III or Pro glass this could be a real winner, I’ve been waiting for someone to come out with a higher end medium range optic with big 56mm for low light work. I’ve always liked Steiner turrets so hopefully these don’t disappoint. Glad to see they’re finally replacing the T5 series, been about 7 years too long.

Not sure where these are hitting shelves, we’re being told they don’t have packaging to ship. Hopefully by the 14th.

The T6X looks exciting
T5Xi looked very exciting too, but I was sorely disappointed, hoping Steiner learned their lesson but not holding my breath. As tempting as the 3-18x56 is I will not be an early adopter this time.

2.5-15 definitely needs a better reticle. I’m hunting for a optic for my mk12 mod H and keep coming back to the atacr.

The T5 was a bit of a fiasco with the turrets and many were let down by the glass. The T6 has great glass and the turrets appear to be the upgraded T5 with the locking feature. Hopefully it’s a successful launch!

The T5 was a bit of a fiasco with the turrets
Didn't KillSwitchEngage do some videos of the tracking back in the day showing the T5 turrets were pretty far off? I believe Steiner originally denied that anything was wrong and then silently started fixing them, does anyone else remember this? The good news is they finally did agree to fix them if you sent in your scope. To Burris' and Steiner's credit they seemed to have learned from past mistakes and appear to be keen on taking care of customers these days.
and many were let down by the glass.
The worst CA I'd experienced with a $2k scope, but I believe they tweaked some things and later versions performed better.
The T6 has great glass
Really hoping this is the case, with the advancements Burris has made with the XTR glass I'd hope some of that would trickle in to Steiner
and the turrets appear to be the upgraded T5 with the locking feature.
Always liked the unique mrad display window. Please tell me the locking mechanism is twist off/twist on and not up/down, I am not a big fan of the up/down locking mechanisms.
Hopefully it’s a successful launch!
Agreed, the M7Xi has been a bit underwhelming for the price so hoping the T6Xi will be fantastic from the get go.

@Glassaholic

To respond to just a couple of your concerns:

-Yes the locking turret is a twist knob on top, not up and down.

-The glass looks VERY much like the XTR Pro but a touch better. I noticed it more at dusk so I believe it to be a coatings difference perhaps. This could just be a sample size of 1 scenario however.

ETA: Tracking is to be proven at this point of course, but assumed to be as good as the fixed T5

Brilliant, that is great to hear, looking forward to these finally getting to our shores, oh wait, the T5Xi was put together in Greeley so is that the same for the T6Xi or are these done overseas now?

To answer a common question, the turrets on the 5-30x are 0.1 mil......the Steiner website and spec sheet says 0.25 moa, which is a typo...

I am all for lightweight scopes, but Leupold makes the lightest weight scopes of them all (average across all SKUs) and they seem to have the most issues related to durability and tracking compare with their similarly priced brethren. It would seem to me making something more stout and robust would require a few more ounces of material, all else being equal.

Thank you for the information! I am looking forward to seeing/reading everyone’s reviews on the 1-6 w their new KC-1 reticle. Thinking I might want to try this out on MARS-L. Glass made in Japan, not Germany? Thanks

Glass is a good bit better than the US made XTR3 I've used, but not as good as my ATACR. Turrets are extremely positive clicks, and are the most tactile and audible clicks I've used. Got it mounted this morning, and eyeing Sunday to get it zeroed. Really digging the MSR2 reticle. The eye relief feels near constant and it feels really easy to get behind

100% lol. S&B makes some real nice scopes but the pricing is just ridiculous for some of the models.
I think I lost interest in the SB 6-36. Waiting has killed me 🤣

Have you compared it to a NF 7-35 in field conditions?

I was finally able to make it out to the range today with the new Steiner and my ATACR. I have to say after shooting back to back, I prefer the Steiner. Tried the get the best pictures I could with my phone, so apologies about the quality

To my eye the Steiner has slightly better clarity. (Edit: though I do think the ATACR had a more consistent clarity edge to edge). While the eyebox on the T6xi isn't as good as my XTR3, it's much better than the ATACR. I found it much easier to get behind.

Not today unfortunately, had a few too many things to test for the time I had and just didn't get to it. Next trip out with this scope I'll try and do a tracking test

So in your attachments, are the 1st and 4th pics the ATACR and the 2nd and 3rd the Steiner?

Either way color me impressed. Shame Steiner doesn’t have a tree reticle in the 2.5-15

Which Steiner, which XTR III and which ATACR?

My bad, correct that 1 and 4 are the ATACR. Steiner is the 5-30, ATACR is 7-35, and XTR3 is 5-30

So you're saying the XTR III 5.5-30 has a better eyebox than your ATACR 7-35? I've always thought that was one of the favored attributes of the 7-35 - was a forgiving eyebox. Based on what you mentioned above, you would rank the scopes (with regard to eyebox forgiveness) as:
  1. Burris XTR III 5.5-30
  2. Steiner T6Xi 5-30
  3. Nightforce ATACR 7-35
