Looking for a green night vision "toy". Not looking to spend a fortune but would want Gen 3 or 3+. Want it to have clarity and not like looking through wax paper. Open to monocular or binocular style. I know ITT Litton is high quality, but open to other brands of similar quality. I know this a rather open ended question, but there are so many suppliers out there and I'm not sure who I should check out. Are the PVS 7's simply too old school? Thanks guys. Price range is $2200 - 3000.

What do you plan on using it for? Walking around the property at night? Hunting? Driving ATVs or SXS? Like anything certain units work better than others depending on the task. PVS-7s are dated, much better options out there these days. If you just need a basic unit for walking and shooting (carbine with IR aiming device) PVS-14 will get the job done.

Also forgot to add not all PVS-14s are same, the devil is in the specs of the unit.

PVS- 7s may be dated but the 3rd gen sure work well. If you go with PVS 14s you really need two, which is what the military has gone with now such as the PVS 30 etc.

Just had to correct the typo. He meant to write AN/PVS-31 but those are way up in price depending on tubes.

You would do fine with a PVS-14 thin filmed. If you haven't used PVS-14's it might take you a little while to get used to walking around with a monocular but it really isn't difficult. You would probably be happy with a PVS-14 with L3 thin filmed tube. A couple of pictures I took using my cell phone to give you an idea (not the best pictures trying to hold the 14 and line up the camera).

We pretty much stopped ordering green phosphor tubes- they sat on the shelf way too long for my likes, meanwhile WP was flying off the shelves daily.

We can get you in a new PVS14 White phosphor 3rd gen for under $3K. Feel free to call, email.
