Archimedes: is there a better deal out there?

Hey all. Ive been following ARC since they started on the mausingfield. It seems the resounding direction is the Archimedes is the best of their lineup for the money. 3099 for a complete rifle (xylo chassis). Is there anything out there that meets the ergonomics and pricepoint? It seems any impact build would be north of $4k. Lmk your thoughts!

I've been a big fan of the Nucleus and have several builds based on it. Just got an Archimedes and haven't fired it yet but from playing with it I may be a convert, it feels fantastic. Feel is just a little slicker than the Nucleus and bolt lift is a touch lighter, very smooth overall feel to it. The Xylo has a very nice feel to it and has performed well in a general shooting environment. I Plan on using the Arch/Xylo is a PRS environment to see how it performs under stress. My only nitpick on the Xylo is the cheekpiece, which I wish was able to extend further back towards the rear of the buttstock. I'm sure there is an answer for this if I dig deeper. But overall a very nice combination.

You can take the rubber off and it should be able to go back a notch or two from where its at from the facotry. I agree though, Ive got mine maxed out.

I love my archimedes rifle. Didnt buy it as one but the parts have come together as one.

if you don't mind a rather light rifle it will be a nice performer

for PRS/outlaw matches there are better options around the same price point that will have a little more weight/balance

To speak to this, mine with the 24" 1.25 straight contour, omega, xrs2 and a full compliment of butt, internal and external weights is 25 lbs and is really nose heavy. Off that rock on a full tater tot support it isnt bad at all. Out on a tank trap point it takes conscious effort to not have it tip forward.
I think if I had something like an mtu or proof contour it would be much better. The medium palma or whatever the full rifle comes with is a lighter package, choose the 6mm and it wont take long to shoot out and replace with whatever you wanted heavier.

Even Ted says the Arch is his favorite action. One of the more innovative actions in recent years. And when ARC has their sales the value is off the chart...

@spife7980 yup that sounds right

good info for the OP in regards to extra weights used/needed etc and balance

Also to the OP. Go try and find a xylo in the wild before you commit. They def have a little funk to them...not that thats a bad thing its just different than most

Got in on the Thanksgiving sale. Got full build archimedes. Love it. Stock is easy to adjust, grip fits me perfect. Best way to describe is bravo grip feel. Still trying to nail down a good load, think may have found it last outing. Just don't get to shoot as much as rest of you.

I got the optic, and im trying to wait for blackfriday sales. Hoping to get it for last years price of 2600 i think?

Seekins HITT will do anything from 223 to the WSM cases. At 2K for the base rifle that is going to be hard for anyone to touch that in value.

origin
proof prefits which are readily available with tons of options
bravo (or any chassis of choice which with a $3,100 rifle budget compard to Archimedes rifle that's a lot of options)
trigger/brake of choice

I sold my Nukes once I got an Archimedes. Had an Origin and sold that too. The price upcharge for the action is pointless when you realize it's a one time purchase and doesn't wear out. The only downside is bolt disassembly. If you change bolt faces often, it's a pain in the ass.

On paper, the Seekins Hit seems like the best deal. No experience with it though.

I have a Archimedes full built that I really like, as do my kids. The action is very slick and I like the pivoting bolt handle. It takes some getting use to as it feels like it kinda acts like a slingshot when you running the bolt fast.

I really like the feel of the chassis, but I ended up throwing it into a xlr element for hunting.

I'd like to edit that I just recently bought a 300wsm barrel for my action and I plan on using it for elk this November as well. I'll probably buy another action if they do the black Friday sale again.

I built a rifle an a Archimedes action kreiger barrel 6.5x 47 lapua about a year ago, and extremely happy with the results. Very smooth action one finger operation basically, improved my bench rest silhouette score tremendously. Buying another one, cant just have one.....

The Archimedes is my intended action for my next build. Though I am not fan a of the Xylo and will likely be going with something from MDT.
