Steiner T6xi

Correct with that ordering. And it's not that the eyebox on the ATACR is bad, it's just the XTR3 and T6xi are just even more forgiving.
Good to know (y) I remember that Burris used the 7x erector from the M7Xi design with their XTR III, ILya had made some comments about this early on indicating there are some benefits to not using the full extent of the erector and I wonder if this is one of those benefits. I had both the 3.3-18 and 5.5-30 XTR III models and thought they both punched above their class, my only gripe was no illumination which has now been resolved, also makes me think the XTR Pro which uses the same design but just adds better glass should be quite compelling. With the FOV of the XTR Pro being even better at 5.5x than the Steiner T6Xi 5-30 at 5x, it makes me wonder why Steiner didn't decide to go with a 6-36 design, I'm trying to figure out what advantage the Steiner has over the already proven XTR Pro other than the name of course?

One advantage the T6xi has is it doesn't have annodized red turrets and mag ring lol. The locking and rev indicator turrets on the T6xi are an actual difference though. I wouldn't be surprised if the pro and the T6xi shared a lot of internal designs and components. I haven't had the chance to look through a pro yet, so I can't comment on any optical differences

Well that's true on the color... XTR Pro definitely designed more for competition use. Will be interesting to see how both fair in the market.

Has anyone received the 3-18x56 yet, really curious how that scope does with eyebox and IQ. I've always had a fondness for the Hensoldt 4-16x56 and while I don't think the Steiner will be anything like the Henny overall, hoping it might provide a "similar" experience... maybe I'm asking too much ;)

I just need them to put a grid scr in the 2.5-15. That screams perfect dmr scope
It's too heavy for that use case for me personally, not sure why they couldn't have trimmed it down some, it's only 1.5 oz lighter than the full size M7Xi 4-28x56, I'm guessing they went for "built like a tank" duty use, but usually we see the M series for that and not the T series so not sure why Steiner chose to make a 2.5-15 so heavy. I'm still looking for that "magical" MPVO that is under 27 oz and offers amazing IQ, some alpha's rumored to come out with something that might fit but I think we're still a ways out. I'd rather have the Nightforce NX8 2.5-20x50 rather than the Steiner 2.5-15, NF is lighter and shorter but am guessing the Steiner has more forgiving eyebox, DOF and parallax being a bit longer and having 6x erector vs. 8.

I’m still leaning towards the mark 5 or atacr 4-16 but the Steiner would be a heavy contender if the reticle choice was right

So got to play with the 318 and 530 in msr2 with @Long Range 338 on Sat.

Quick summery:

Glass is excellent. I had my 527 zco and he had his TT 525 on hand. I had a really hard time inducing any CA out of either of these but there was a a tiny bit. Overall imo sightly better glass than what I saw in the xtr pro so looks like Steiner is finally getting their crap together.

Paralax is smooth.

Turrets are pretty good. I am your classic turret snob. If they are not solid tactical clicks I'm out. These are decent they are tactile and you def know you have turned a click but there is some very slight play once it is in the detent.

I am also a stickler for the witness 0 mark and the turret markings lining up perfectly. Both Scopes were dead on.

No 2nd rev tactile indicator....boo nice to have shooting at night.

Illumination was not daylight bright and was green. I didn't have time to check if you can change it to red so @Long Range 338 get on it.

Eye box was great imo not quite as generous as zco which imo is probably the best eyebox I have ever been behind but it's easy to get behind.

Mag ring wasnt too stiff no thrower needed.

Both made in USA .... Merica'

Overall for what they will probably be on the street this is straight eating vortex razor and atacr lunch imo if you dig the reticles

Now go do a NF torture test and report back 😉.

I’m glad the feedback is good. I may have to try one!

I'd be interested in someone doing a direct side by side with the T6xi 318 and ATACR 416.

This is great news Husky, it gives me great hope that the T6Xi line will hit the ground running! I really want that 3-18x56, will be building another rifle next year and this is the scope that will be the frontrunner. I've been an advocate of mid range 56mm optics and surprised more manufacturers haven't ventured into this territory at the higher end until now, hopefully this will start a trend.

Yea I just hope it's not a fluke.

Conditions were perfect that afternoon and their wasn't a ton of mirage to really challenge the scopes ability to resolve. We also didn't do a tracking test so it's reliability is def yet to be proved. We also didn't do a definitive fov test.

For the weight and length on the 318 I think Steiner did a pretty good job esp given the price point.

The T5XI was one of their first “expensive” glass I owned, I loved the design and feel of it and really liked the turret window deal but had parallax issues, it would just not focus at distance was sent in and it was the same when it came back so got rid of it. I really wanted to love the T5XI I hope that this new scopes deliver.

Anyone hear of any plans to make the 3-18x56 in MOA? Only see mil at the moment

Who’s got them in stock and tha best deals on these right now?

Would like to see the t6 vs the Zeiss s3 and mark5, maybe a delta Stryker or Cronus. Don’t know it’s as good as a pmii but that too, not sure and Leica prs. Never got to see a Leica in the flesh. Was supposed to be good

Which aspect/features are you wanting to compare? Your mentioned scopes are such a varying group in class and price…

I’ve had most of the scopes you mention and feel the T6 is the best scope for the money but that is dependent on which features are most desireable to me.

The Alpha scopes are going to edge the T6 but they cost twice as much. The similar priced scopes will be lucky to keep up. The T6 has great glass, great turrets, and great reticle options. Made in the USA. Lots to like about it as long as it meets your needs.

Yeah I’m know haha, from peoples reviews it’s hard to gauge how high above its price class it punches or it is sort of middle of the pack. I’ve had a lot of steiners, currently using a pmii 3-20
. Getting ready for a ar-10 build. Starting to look at a T6xi or a Zeiss s3

I knew there would be one comment like this. I guess everyone should be a sheep and do what others prefer/like..
I still have my old legacy Leupolds with MOA reticles. I still like them, just not as much as my MIL reticles.

Don't get too excited, the comment was made in jest ;)

The T6 is as good as the M5 or M7 optically and possibly better depending on the individual unit. I just don’t see any CA in the T6 at all.
The SB is going to be a little better and the Zeiss S5 is also. I’ve not held an S3 so I can’t make any comparison there.
The T6 wins in the turret comparison size wise against the Zeiss and SB. Clicks are not as crisp but very good.
I’m an MSR2 fan so the reticle options are among my favorites.
For those who have had the Alpha scopes and can appreciate the refinement there is still an argument for paying more money. But for a VERY good scope that will get the job done with zero issues the T6 is great.

Havent re Read the thread, so cannot say where this was brought up or if it was even. Anyway, I like the looks of the 2.5-15. Is an area that gets missed a lot by some of the platforms these days. I haven’t honestly researched it other than a quick look at the specs, size and reticle, but think that this would work great for a light mid-range AR. Also as a nice hunting gun topper in most of the eastern states.

ETA: well crap! It looks like the 2.5-15 only comes in the SCR-MIL reticle. In my opinion, that is the wrong reticle for an optic in this mag range. I’d much rather see something like the “circle of death” reticle from Bushnell or even a modified version of the new Burris KC-1 reticle. Hey Steiner! PM me for a couple ideas to improve the reticle for use in this mag range and use type.

Might need to get a 5-30 for my Tac Ops rifle when it comes in.

Very interested in the 1-6, waiting to hear back re release dates from a question I sent to Steiner a week ago. The reticle (dual function within an ffp) is intriguing to me for an LPVO paired w a 16” barrel .556. Especially looking to comp this with the partially similar reticle, NF FC-dMX, in the ATACR (available and 1k above) and NX8 (same price and not available).

Steiner has the T6Xi 5-30X listed with a available elevation range of 26mils and a unheard of 26mils of windage - is there a chance there is more elevation available?

Also the eye relief is specd at 3.3 - 3.5 in, would that also be correct?

I don't own one yet just got to play with one.

@Long Range 338 does tho

Mine has just over 22 mils elevation and 5 1/2 mils each direction on windage. Can't really confirm about the eye relief, as I don't have it mounted on a rifle yet. To measure it, I'd have to get my wife to help, and I don't want her getting her hands on a tape measure 😊

Edit: after playing with the zero stop, I was able to get 23 mils, but couldn't get the other 3 mils it's supposed to have

Help me, T6 people. I don't buy scopes that often, so am not up on things, and this seems the most relevant place:

The old Steiner Military 4-16x50 on my PSS has lost illum. Sent for warranty repair: Not repairable, and old enough scope it is not replaceable, but they are giving me two options for (direct, free) replacement:

T6Xi 3-18 - https://www.steiner-optics.com/riflescopes/t6xi-3-18x56
T6Xi 2.5-15 - https://www.steiner-optics.com/riflescopes/t6xi-25-15x50

OR, a $2,200 credit towards anything else they offer, presumably against their MSRP which... isn't a lot when you bump up to the M7 offerings.

The 3-18 T6 looks fine from reading this thread, but am I missing something?

Gun is Rem 700 SA, .308, with the original 26" 5R heavy barrel. It shoots mostly from 75-600 yds, but I have shot reliably to 900 yds, have with better spotters gotten to 1400. It now almost always is suppressed, sometimes has a PVS-30 clipon in front of it. Need all the usual you'd expect: Side parallax, exposed turrets, zero stop, MIL/MIL and it seems to have that out of box.

No mention of which reticles but I hope I pick which one I want, and... then have to decide on that!

The new T6Xi line is VERY good. Turrets are basically the T5 with a locking mechanism. Glass is very nice. You are limited to MSR2 and SCR2 for reticle choices. Nothing wrong with the M5 or M7 line of scopes but the T6 is a much better price point and made in America. The M series scopes are made in Germany and are priced accordingly.

My opinion - 2.5-15 is too heavy... for a 2.5-15 with 50mm objective, had this scope been 28oz or less it would have more appeal. For 2.5 oz more I'd rather have the extra light gathering power of the 56mm objective on the 3-18x56mm, this is on my short list.

I don't think you'll go wrong with either one. Personally, I'd take the opportunity to get a little more magnification for my aging eyes. I went to the precision rifle expo this last weekend and had a chance to play around with a lot of different scopes. The turrets on the T6Xi compare very well with the best out there. Looking through the M7xi and T6xi side by side, I couldn't tell that the glass in the M7s was any better, but they were a little heftier. I usually second guess the heck out of myself after a big purchase, but I think the T6 worked out fine.
