KRG Whiskey 3 Chassis-Let's See Them

Hi guys,

Can people with the folders please assist me. I'm trying to find out if there are any issues with the hinges over time. Any movement or slop in them in the locked position as they wear, any at all? I just don't like wobbly stocks but a need a folder.

Cheers
I had a Whiskey Gen 3 chassis that had a lower hinge with a non captive pin (I believe that is the right term). Over time it developed play and I reached out to KRG about it. They sent a new hinge assembly and since then that chassis has been good. It has seen a lot of range time since with no issue.
Now about two years back I got a KRG Whiskey folder for my Sako TRG. It is the latest version and if i force it, I can see a very minimal play in it, not like the older one but a very slight play non the less. It does not seem to affect anything so im keeping it as it is. Its been on the gun for close to 3 years and Ive sent about 2000 rounds down range.

Since everyone here has or is interested in the W3 , would you guys be interested in the C4 with a folder option and a T3X option ? If so let KRG know. Been dropping hints ever since they released it. Gorgeous chassis. 😍

I think that the C4 looks great but I am not in the market for anything like it.

Great reply thanks, I'm up for a few of these and from what I can tell the hinge is the only part that concerns me. So I am understanding you correctly, enough play that if you apply force you can see slight moment. Can you feel the movement when shouldering and or operating the rifle?

Thanks again

Yes, If I apply force I can see/feel a very slight play in the lower hinge. I cant feel or tell at all when using the rifle.

On the old chassis with the old hinge, I could tell when shooting cos I started getting strange POI changes and eventually I figured out what was causing it.

I will keep my KRG parts and I have faith that if they every cause me troubble, KRG will help out. I have been shooting with various KRG parts/chassis for the better part of the last 8 years or so.

I've had a folder for two years and fold it for every range session. Probably folded it over a hundred times now too. No issues for me. It's still solid.

I have two folders in the W-3. They are stout, secure and free of any wobble when extended.

When folded there’s a very, very slight amount of wiggle. However, that's to be expected. What counts is when they are extended. There is ZERO wobble when extended and it feels like an fixed buttstock when you get on the rifle.

Thanks for the replies, they've been very helpful. One more question for guys with enclosed forends and heavy barrel profiles. I'll be running m24 profiles, are there any clearance issues with Mlok screws through the handguard?

Cheers

I think this chassis looks great and have been thinking about getting one. Where can you get one?

I had an enclosed forend for a while but I did not run more than a medium Palma profiled barrel, so I cant really say.

I run a proof comp contour in my w3 with enclosed fore-end and have no issues

Ok great, so plenty of clearance for Mlok screws even with barrel whip?
Do you mean like barrel whipping due to vibration when shooting? I haven't noticed any contact on the spray paint on my barrel. It's a 6.5 creed, and it gets used quite a bit in PRS matches.

Yeah that's what I meant, ok great. And you are using Mlok accessories on the side of your enclosed handguard yes?

For some reason I didn’t read Mlok when I first replied, but the guy I bought my chassis from ran mdt weights on it with same barrel profile and it didn’t contact. I haven’t heard of any issues from other people too

Anyone rocking a ~16” barrel with an enclosed forend and folder? Looking for inspiration for a real shorty and just wanna know how compact it gets

My Vudoo 360 in a W3… absolutely love the setup!

I just submitted an order sheet for the 360. I also have a KRG W-3 chassis that it is going in. Did you have any problems on the installation? Is there anything that I might need to be concerned about?

I'll need a private room if I look at your shootin' iron any longer.

Apologies for the slow response, i’ve been slammed at work. I had zero issues dropping the BA into the W3. I just followed the KRG instructions, done.

After posting my question, I talked with Vudoo to place the order and deposit. I asked if there is anything that I need to remember for using the KRG W-3.

The lady told me to use the extended magazine catch, which I got from KRG.

Are you using the extended magazine catch?

Maybe I’m lucky but I never needed an extended mag catch. I’ve fed a little over 16,000 rounds with mine in a whiskey 3

New scope came in today from @Spartan Precision Arms after I sold a Tangent to fund a trip to Poland. 6.5 barrel currently in the que at Altus. This 18.5 setup would pair nice with a Magnus once I’m officially legal here. Should be back up and running after a too long hiatus within the next couple weeks.
Damn, where’s John Travolta? Dancing behind the camera?

At least the man got his priority straight, scope before furniture. LOL...

The pics by @charnicus reminded me of my W3. Btw, does charnicus have a meaning? Couldn’t find anything…neat-sounding name.

Not great pics, but it’s what I have at the moment. My W3 in R700 .204 flavor. Sporting some prototype (I think, still?) grips from @Tyler Kemp aka MKM. He also made the flared magwell.

The magwell is tits, but those grips MAKE the W3 imho. So much more ergonomic for my thumb. Hats off 🎩!!! Bug him to bring these to production, fellow W3 owners. (If he hasn’t already)

That’s a clean build 👌 curious about the 3d printed magwell too.

Charnicus is a play on my middle name. 44% made up haha.

May I ask what action you're running here? I've never seen that before. Looks amazing. Edit: I see it's an AI barreled action. Had no idea those would fit in a Whiskey. Was there any modification done to the chassis to accept?
I believe that is not an AI (not one I’ve ever seen, anyway).

Looks like the Badger Ordnance M2013, whose production has been paused (maybe for Ukraine, IIRC).
