New Henry or pre-83' 336?

In 30/30 specifically for a Louisiana Whitetail and Hog gun. I don't care anything about the ability to mod, or turn into some tactical abomination. Padded sling, and a low power optic.

I got rid of my old 336 which I regret badly, but since I'm buying, should I go Henry or old 336?

And why one over the other, from a technical, reliability, quality and accuracy standpoint?

The 336 is a better machined, better designed, and better proven mechanism than the crap Henry has cobbled together. Have you ever taken a Henry apart? After that you will never buy one. Half the damn gun is MIM.

Pre safety 336 - maybe give the .35 REM a shot this time for something different.

I know very little about Henry, but definitely assumed they were at least on par with an old 336. Especially for the $.

Even in today's market, I can find a clean pre 83' for $600ish.
