I'm seeing these rangefinding binoculars on sale for deeply discounted prices. So Vortex might be coming out with the 2023 model soon.

So I'm stuck trying to decide on whether to wait for the 2023 model, which might be better, or buy this model now.

I examined a pair of these a few months ago and was very impressed. So I'm wondering if anyone has experience with these binoculars. Recommendations? Opinions?

Were you able to gather any info on these? I am trying to find info as well but seems limited.

Really interested in a comparison of these and sig’s new kilo 6k, but haven come across much info for either.

I am going to 80% less than helpful, but I will offer that the Sig Kilo 10K binos are amazing. Slight up-tick in price from Vortex, and we are dealers of both brands, but do not have hands-on or customer feedback on the Vortex.

We do get some open box Sig deals from time to time, as the very first generation had to be sent back to Sig for a programming update.

+1 for getting live feedback on the Vortex.

Check out some of the field reviews on Rokslide ... general consensus was that they do better than many in the cold, are fast to resolve distances, don't have great glass but are useable, and main appeal is the warranty (some other companies have short warranties on their electronics).

If you did buy current model and had problems in future, chances are good you'd get the next model as a replacement (if needed).

I'm no Vortex fan by any stretch, but I got rid of my first gen Swaro LRFs to get some Furys - as others were also doing a year or three ago.

Just curious where you are seeing the deeply discounted prices? Thanks!

What was the price if you don't mind me asking?

I just saw that they were back in stock again. Unfortunately, I just spent a bunch of money on a couple of other new toys and will have to wait:(

EDIT: Midway also has a 10% off coupon code on that sale price. I hate credit cards!

Decent optics for what you pay. Beam centering is luck of the draw, can be inside the reticle can be way outside... The AB engine IMO works as advertised, i ran mine at a few NRL hunter matches and the solver worked well.

No longer have em but would buy again if Vortex could guarantee a beam inside the ret.

How could you tell when the beam was off?

If you try to hit a 100yd board in front of a 600yd berm and the number that pops up is 600yd then you know

    I had two different units.

Unit 1 beam was close to the lower left quadrant of the reticle in most regimes of use(very usable). I sent it in for some eyecup work and came back 6-7mils (whole mils) low so unusable for me

Went back and they replaced it with a new unit that had the beam on the center but touching the reticle line (not centered on Y but very usable)

That unit had to go back for a focus ring issue and came back with the beam way out left, like 8-10 mils

They bought it back, we moved on

It sounds like a new one, if purchased, would have to go through some extensive testing for reliability in distance measuring.

I have the SIG Kilo 2400 ABS rangefinder and really like it. I'm impressed the the ABS software. So far the firing solutions on the couple dozen rifles profiled on it have been hitting the mark if i do my part.

So I had high hopes for a Vortex range finding binocular with the ABS software. The price is low enough and makes it tempting to take a chance.

If I got on with a good beam alignment, I wonder how it would stand up to rough abuse.

Just my take on it, tons of people out there getting great results with theirs

To map your beam all you need is a light/telephone pole, you’d be smart to do that with any LRF as very few come trued to the reticle

Well said. I examined one a few months ago at a range. It was giving the correct distance on ranges out to a mile. Very impressive.

I like their lifetime warranty and in your situation, it's good that they bought it back from you.

I had nothing but trouble with a S&W 325 and sent it to the factory four times and demanding that they buy it.

The manager in charge of my case agreed that they should buy it from me but was overridden. I'll never buy an S&W again.

I have flintlock pistols that are more reliable than that POS.

So with that said, I'm glad that you got your money back. it might have been worse.

I’m not sure if you made a decision yet, sorry I’m just seeing this now. We did a comparison test on these and a few other Laser Rangefinding Bino’s in the sub $3k range. We were able to test them in the rain, fog and clear conditions. On everything from reflective man sized targets, to brown vehicle targets at ranges over 2k.

    Here’s the wrap-up
