Very cute clerk asked me if I found everything I was looking for.

This may come as a shock to you, but, in some areas of the United States, not everyone reads/writes/speaks English because of their background.
It used to be immigrants would come to America and learn the language, but the Libs like to keep people separated to exert power/influence over them. So, now we have multiple languages all over the place.
